I must confess somethig, I WAS from the Ziphone band, but lately i have been reading so many bad things about this program that I decided to leave it aside. Furthermore, i have read that you are the ones that found how to crack the last 2G iPhones (BL 4.6 an on) congratulations!!

Thanks for the tip. I updated to 2.0 thinking I could revert back if I had problems, then quickly found it wasn't going to be that easy. I was able to use iTunes 7.5 and iLiberty+ to forcefully downgrade all the way on Windows back to 1.1.4 , so it is possible, it just took several runs to crack through.

In fact, I would probably go as far as collecting IP addresses for all the whiney lil bitches leaving comments and block the IP's from downloading for a few days extra. Sure some people would figure it out and find a way around it.... but perhaps instead of an outright error, just have their IP's trigger a link to a corrupted version that won't open :D

You can do it yourself, pretty easy. To "portray" it to Windows, simply print out a screen shot of the Mac version, hold it up to the screen, and say "Hi Windows, this is my portrayal of the iPhone 2.0 hax0ring softw4rez that is very pretty to look at."
Unless you mean "ported" in which case, who knows...

Ahh... but it's unlocked and you're tariffs look fairly good compared to many places, German for example. You're least expensive plan is €30 vs. Germanys €45, for which you get many more minutes and messages, although not unlimited data... It seem you get fairly good rates. You may pay more upfront, but less over the 2 year contract (you'd save €360 over the 2 years)....
and hey, you actually get a sanctioned unlocked phone.

That empty red dot turns out to be a nice visual indicator that CommCenter is unloaded. It's probably not done intentionally by Apple but it's useful anyway:) Once CommCenter gets relaunched the empty red dot disappears.

watch the video they released of the software in action that was released the other day it clearly shows the option to select firmware 2.0 phones (i.e. Purchased on or after July 11th) the pwnage tool will work for 3G handsets from what i can gather don't get your panties all tied up go out and watch a movie or learn how to make fishball soup its a telephone people, not your pacemaker when it's released, it's released calm down

I have tried everything out on the web with no success in returning to my world of dreams prior to 7-11 (July 11) I now have an iPhone that works like an iPod Touch........all the great tools out there and I can't get it unlocked. I have downgraded upgraded and reloaded too many times to I know I should be patient, if I was patient I wouldn't be in this pickle. I am waiting and hopefully the wait will be worth it.

mmm i think they're just waiting to have all in one software pack, mmmm like...probably there is no problem with the iphone 1gen 2.0 software unlocking/jailbroken procedure and i think than they have problems with the 3G, and it doesnt make any sense, to release a software that is only able to unlock the 1gen iphone with the 2.0 software and not with the 3G...... am just guessing

i had a question, when you delete an app through itunes it ends up in your trash as "name.ipa" instead of jailbreaking, hacking, and doing all this crazy stuff to your phone and breaking your waranty, could there be away to have 3rd party apps somehow be recognized by itunes as a .ipa and put them right on your phone. i know nothing about hacking an all that so this idea could be impossible as far as i know but i was just curious

I have an 1.1.3 iPhone which was ziphoned (and I hate to have the same WIFI MAC then all my colleges in the office!!) but the 2.0 OS supports my Hong Kong Three (Hutchinson) provider -- so I don't need the SIM unlock any more?!?!???!?? So can I just upgrade, if I have a regular SIM card from one of the newly supported providers? Anyone tried?

I guess either dev team is testing the software thorougly before releasing it or it is a brain game against other unlockers who study the pwnage process and create their own unlockers. That's why other unlocking site's show nothing while dev team has been releasing proof videos of thier success. Thanks iphone-dev team, you are the best,

The weird thing about this all is that I see many hints that the devteam IS having issues unlocking/jailbreaking: - We've seen a video of ipwner 2.0, but actually showing many problems in the software - All other videos show already unlocked phones (there is no reason to believe that the unlocking process is as easy as shown on the 2.0 ipwner) - Releasing a working unlock just moments after the offical release of 3G would make history, instead they decide to wait
My guess is that they bumped into problems with either the new 2.0 firmware version (instead of the gold one) or that they are able to unlock previous 1.1.4 phones, but not the 3G, and therefor are trying to fix this for the release of ipwner.
Nonetheless, all this crap people are saying to them is absurd. If they decide to release it when its 100% functional is a wise move. What would happen if they released a version the almost just works, and then some asshole like Zibri reads the code and releases a better, functional version?

Just to let people know had to downgrade from 2.0 and every thing works fine so far. Upgraded accidentally to go back go to unlocked 1.1.4 go to http://sleepers.net/news/?page_id=216 Its been posted a few times but here it is again. Many thanks to all involved in that one you are live savers. And many thanks to the dev team for all your hard work in helping all of us even the ungrateful ones beat the system once again.

To all of the beggers and haters who keep egging on the dev team to release the package. Look at it this way A) They could be stingy litte assholes and write software and make millions of dollars for some company which they would only see a fraction of... B) They can over-eagerly release un -unfinished piece of software and be slandered by EVERY PERSON for the exact oposite reason. Releasing buggy software and bricking phones or at the very least waisting our time. C) Do what they are doing right now and proving to the world that they dedicate theselfs to their product and make sure they cover this from every angle.
I mean shit people you all fucking know that all of the people givin props and love to the dev team would totally loose respect for them if this software flopped and didnt work.
Give them the respect they have earned and let them release their tools when they feel confident that they are ready for the world. They are doing us all a serivce by spending ALOT of free time working really hard to build somethin g for the world for no gain other than respect.

Everything I've read has said you pay the ETF of $175 and first month's service, but my buddy is telling me that AT&T has a special ETF for canceling this phone. Anyone care to explain just what exactly is the different between BootNeuter AND Pwnage ? What i likes about Ziphone is the fact that its simple.One app and one click of the button. I used that program to unlock mine and it's been working great.
Maybe this time i use BootNeuter/Pwnage if i figure out what's what :)

These people R Killin' me! Anyway I bricked my antique iphone (Gen1) by upgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 and my mail app croaked! it opend for about 10 seconds to a white screen then closes. so I downgraded, upgraded back & forth between 3 & 4 still no mail app workey! finally thought 2.0 would re-write entire thing & fix it, But no and I have no valid iPhone account W/ at&t I do use (AT&T sim card) so anyway I got the USB cable of death goin' here and I tunes & Ziphone don't recognize it any Idea is there a super duper Hard reset? whaaaaaa I know, I know I'm also a "Silly Billy" I guess but, but, I was desperate!

I had my Mail app crashing like that too. Solution was to delete back-up in iTunes then restore. If you don't delete the backup it will keep restoring the screwed up mail settings.

I had that problem too! Some mess up with the rights of the files, check the hackint0sh board, there was a solution for that, I got my one working... (don't remember how exactly, sry :( )

What has this to do with respecting DevTeams work? If you possess some kind of info on this, from ur so called source, maybe you should help them out. OR, is your source perhaps Zibri? What ever, I think that 3G unlock will be here in less than a week. I dont really care, since I dont even have an iphone yet. Will get one soon though :)

Clerence is right that there was a different bootloader.
BUT: as of the notifications yesterday, devteam was definitievely buying 3G phones and testing with them and only AFTER this giving green lights and saying everything went as expected.
So my conlcusion is: there's NO DIFFERENCE between 3g and first gen phones for the outcome of pwnage 2.0. Will work just on both hardwares...

yes, they expected that there is a different bootloader on the 3g, which needs some coding/testing to get it cracked. The so called "green lights" were given to the final 2.0 Software.

Yes, that is true. The new iphone does contain a different/new bootloader, due to the 3G chip. But I have full trust in DevTeam to be able to crack this thing fast :D Its their way of doing it :D haha

Bootloader is different than baseband, no? I assumed the 3G chip would require a different baseband, not necessarily a different bootoader. Are these interchangable terms, or am I confused... who am I kidding I am confused either way

Specifically I was wondering if the Classic iPhone running 2.0 and iPhone 3G could be broken/unlocked in the same fashion. I presume the the baseband is different for 3G, no?
I apologize the presumptuousness of the next commnet, it comes from admited ignorance about the differences between the two pieces of hardware, but would it make sense to release two pwnage tools, one for the classic iPhone and a separate one for 3G?

STILL I REMIND YOU: some posts on this blog ago, iphone-dev told us, that some iphone-dev members where going to buy the 3g for some tests, and those tests turned out to work great or something. So that gives us a change, that it WILL WORK on the 3g.
Funny though, now we're asking about this and wondering this, iphone-dev is suddenly very silent... I think there's going to be a happy suprise for the ones losing faith. thats what i think.

Anyway I bricked my antique iphone (Gen1) by upgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 and my mail app croaked! it opend for about 10 seconds to a white screen then closes. so I downgraded, upgraded back & forth between 3 & 4 still no mail app workey! finally thought 2.0 would re-write entire thing & fix it, But no and I have no valid iPhone account W/ at&t I do use (AT&T sim card) so anyway I got the USB cable of death goin' here and I tunes & Ziphone don't recognize it any Idea is there a super duper Hard reset? whaaaaaa I know, I know I'm also a "Silly Billy" I guess but, but, I was desperate!
Uh but uh now that I have it on 2.0 and not a legitimate SIM card, I can't get it to install 1.1.4 it fails cuz I'm sure 2.0 updated stuff boot loader maybe? I dunno but it gives me only the option to sign up with AT&T and open a 2 year contract any clue as to how to kill it to allow a downgrade?

But what Clerence is telling is something that the new buyer must know, in case it's true.
BUT: as of the notifications yesterday, devteam was definitievely buying 3G phones and testing with them and only AFTER this giving green lights and saying everything went as expected.
So my conlcusion is: there's NO DIFFERENCE between 3g and first gen phones for the outcome of pwnage 2.0. Will work just on both hardwares...
Bootloader is different than baseband, no? I assumed the 3G chip would require a different baseband, not necessarily a different bootoader. Are these interchangable terms, or am I confused... who am I kidding I am confused either way
Specifically I was wondering if the Classic iPhone running 2.0 and iPhone 3G could be broken/unlocked in the same fashion. I presume the the baseband is different for 3G, no?
I apologize the presumptuousness of the next commnet, it comes from admited ignorance about the differences between the two pieces of hardware, but would it make sense to release two pwnage tools, one for the classic iPhone and a separate one for 3G?

some posts on this blog ago, iphone-dev told us, that some iphone-dev members where going to buy the 3g for some tests, and those tests turned out to work great or something.
So that gives us a change, that it WILL WORK on the 3g.
Funny though, now we're asking about this and wondering this, iphone-dev is suddenly very silent... I think there's going to be a happy suprise for the ones losing faith. thats what i think.
