Especially trolling noobs
this is NOT screen unlock... its a baseband unlock to unlock any GSM network on your LOCKED phone...
I doubt we'd go through all of this for a Slide to unlock.
[i hope you guys realize we're just screwing around here]
iphone 2.0.2 update haha
thanks guys !!!
It was written over the web that the 2.0.2 update makes a baseband upgrade for iPhone 3G.
Updating with the pwntool is safe ? (I mean, will it make a 'possible' future unlock more complicated?)
Thanks
windowsucks!
But anyway thank you guys...
the baseband update in 2.0.2 is only 4 the 3G...
see you
If your unlocking the phone, you need to make sure you click the "Activate" check box.
my baseband was upgrade and i cant call or recive a thing witing for you guys
!up DevTeam
are you using the pwnage tool ?
when this happen ?
yes i used pwnage tool 2.0.2 für the unlock.
Pwnage and you should be fine
if yes
what time ?
You are making great jobs,we know but all of us are interested in only 3g unlock.
Please suggest us.
Joey
Aguante el iPhone Dev Team!!! un abrazo desde Argentina, sigan así!!!!
look like the new QuickPwn GUI doesn't work-i select the IPSW, it does a spinning wheel, then the arrow doesn't get activated.
And yes, I am using the right firmware. Anything else I'm doing wrong?
del %temp%\zip*.tmp
I tried deleting all the zip*.tmp as well.
English/US far as I can tell.
Ok, are you guys running on Administrative accounts or limited users?
Can you give me an email address, both of you - I want to give you a test build that generates a log file.
Neglected to say, SP3.
Is there any debug messages that gets sent out?
amir.elsibaie@gmail.com
Same problem. Tried the cmd thing, but it couldn't find any files to delete...
facing same problem here with Win XP SP2.
Browse the IPSW, circle spins for a few seconds then stops. Blue arrow never enables.
email: aasif.r@gmail.com
hoping to hear from u soon... :)
Just COPY+PASTE the IPSW file to the Quickpwn folder.
Now it will work... :)
lemme kno if this fixes your problems...
good work poorlad....
1. Extract the zip file: you get Quickpwn150.exe
2. Extract the exe file: you get Quickpwn folder with a Quickpwn.exe and some dlls and some folders.
3. Copy the ipsw to this folder
4. Run Quickpwn.exe
That should do it!
Keep up the stupendous work!
Thanks
And thanks again for the work you all do!
That tutorial worked for me...but when I go to build the package, it asks for bootloaders. Apparently I don't have the right ones...
So, why should they admit defeat? Plenty of Crypto hackers strive for years to break a good algorithm. Many times they succeed and many times they fail.
What do you care? You obviously are not up to the challenge, but many people like a challenge and will try to unlock the 3G iphone even when the next gen comes out - if they think there is a chance, then they will keep trying. Obviously they have discovered a few implementation flaws that give them that hope.
I just wish all the n00b whiners would get a life. Bunch of idiots that bought a phone hoping it could be unlocked when everyone says that it the real answer is "maybe".
WHINE WHINE WHINE - "I want my 3G unlocked". One day Dev team will get tired of all this and quit or keep all the good stuff for themselves. I would not blame them with all the demands and complaints that are on this blog.
Thats pretty interesting.
Got a link ?
anyway, thz dev team ! wait u guys fixed the bugs!!
I have a 1st gen iPhone pwned running 2.0.1. Is there anything fixed or improved in 2.0.2 for the old (non 3G) phones?
I hope that 2.1 has some real feature improvements and bug fixes. For the right stuff, i could give up jailbreak for a while, maybe even forever :)
But that is a big list i have, and I don't really think Apple will bless us that much.
I was hoping that now that its been around for a bit someone might have noticed some difference.
Any mirrors please?
is it possible to update to the 2.0.2 pwned FW?
what am i missing by don't upgrading to the newest baseband?
since i am a legit user, I would eventually prefer e.g. more stable and improved connections to a possible 3G unlock..
Anyone with details to the BB updates?
Every this is right though, I have RBG Alpha Channel 320x480 and under 100k PNG files. Any suggestions or a way to fix this?
SSH into your device
Go into /var/
Change the permissions on the Keychains folder to 777
I'm using MacBook with Leopard and my iPhone is 2g with T-Mobile.
Yes youtube, wi-fi, EDGE, Maps, AppStore, Cydia and Installer working faster.
"Does PwnageTool 2.0.3 change any of the FW 2.0.2 updated fixes that were ment to improve the iphone 3g's performance? (Even tho I updated to the 2.0.2 FW and haent noticed any changes or improvments) <------ Am I alone on this observation???"
I'm sticking with jailbroken 2.0.1 on my iPhone 3G until you hit us with the 3G unlock - happy to wait until then. Huge thanks for all your work! Without you guys i wouldn't have Offline Maps or a locally accessible dump of Wikipedia in my pocket.
Cheers from Sydney, Australia.

"...remember that the 2.0.2 update includes a baseband update for the 3G iPhone, so depending what your long term intentions are for the phone, update wisely, of course in the upcoming PwnageTool application you’ll be able to create a custom ipsw without the baseband update enabled."
That functionality isn't there for me in this version of PwnageTool. Is it still in the works?
I went back to 2.0.1, but I think it's gonna be fixed soon :)
thanks
thanks
Here is the ISPW file name (came from my hidden folder for iTunes): iPod1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore
UPDATE:
No luck, but Poorlad found the bug. YeH!!!!!! Thanks Poorlad
The passwords for the Wifi and for the mail boxes have to be typed every time. I use an iPhone 2G and the phone works perfectly despite this problem.
When Pawned with Ipawn 2.0.2, to downgrade and customize back to 1.2.0.1 5B108. the passwords are memorized again, so the problem seems to come from iPawn 2.0.3 whatever the firmware is.
I still don't understand something: does Quickpwn uses and hardware related bug or is it just software?
And anyway how are things with 2.1 beta 4? :-)
Thank you again. I really love this blog!
Thanks for this new update in the meantime.
Either way, thanks for this update.
I can see "enable baseband update" in PwnageTool, but it's disabled, greyed out actually.
So is there a way to unblock the BB update, using PwnageTool, or is QuickPwn the only option for the time being?
It's an OTB unlocked device; I would really like to do this BB update.
How do we get the new baseband on the iPhone 3G and jailbreak 2.0.2? Only using QuickPwn?
Thanks
TIA
Matt
2.02 firmware already upgraded
simple mode no activation
ITunes could not restore the iphone "xxx" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone that is being restored.
i did a restore with stock firmware and was able to get my phone back on the network. this was all with pwnage
"Does PwnageTool 2.0.3 change any of the FW 2.0.2 updated fixes that were ment to improve the iphone 3g's performance? (Even tho I updated to the 2.0.2 FW and haent noticed any changes or improvments) <------ Am I alone on this observation???"
The reason I ask is because I am with AT&T and don't really need the "3g unlock". I would like to utilize any base band bug fixes Apple "supposedly" has initiated that corrects the 3g issues.. Anybody thats knows the answer please share lol..
mobileme and gmail account, I get the same problem (Cannot Get Mail "The user name or password for "xxx" is incorrect).
Lets see if there is an update to solve this issue.
Cheerios!
I can connect wifi, but when I 'lock it' (sleep mode), the phone seems to forget the password, and either ask it again, or just display 'No wifi'...
first, I built a custom .ipsw *without* cydia or installer. I DFU-restored to the custom ipsw, setup wifi, and setup mobile me. all worked well.
i then went back, created a custom .ipsw *with* cydia (but still without installer). DFU-restored again, setup wifi, setup mobileme. mobileme said that it configured ok. when I went to fetch mail, it said i had an incorrect password.
i went back into mobileme settings - it forgot my password. i entered it again, it forgot it again.
i then went to safari, and it asked me for my wifi password (even though the password worked before when i configured mobile me). i entered it again, then it forgot it again.
i'm DFU-restoring to my cydia-only .ipsw again to see if it happens again. if it does, i'll try using the 'default' options of pwnagetool and see if that works.
i'll post back here with any results.
EDIT: Same thing happened again (expert-mode created .ipsw - all options default except that I am NOT installing Installer). I setup Wifi, went to apple.com OK. I configured MobileMe - it said it was OK. I went into "Mail.app", it said my password for MobileMe was incorrect. I hit the sleep button, waited a minute or so, powered back ON, and ran Safari: it prompted me for my WiFi password again.
** Is there a permissions issue, or does choosing Cydia end up replacing some system library?? **
As I said, I'll try again with 'default' (NON-expert mode) options in PwnageTool and report back.
- Paulb
i then disconnected from itunes, manually setup wifi (difficult to type WEP password). i verified safari worked (went to www.apple.com). I then went back to the HOME screen, and pressed the Power (sleep) button.
I waited a minute two, powered-ON again, and ran safari. It popped up "Incorrect WiFi Password" and prompted me for the WEP password (again).
So, there does indeed seem to be some sort of a permissions problem (someone else suggested fixing permissions in /var/Keychains via openssh).
I'm now going to go back to my "no cydia, no installer" custom .ipsw and confirm that it *does* work OK (it did before, but maybe I just got lucky). Maybe this'll help the dev team narrow down the problem.
I'll report back with the results.
- Paulb
Solution (at least from my testing): Don't include "Cydia" in your custom .ipsw. (Use "expert" mode of PwnageTool, use default options for everything, except UN-CHECK "Cydia installer" under "Custom Packages").
Or, wait for Dev Team to fix the problem.
- Paulb
During the pwnage setup, when you're choosing packages from Cydia to have included in your custom firware, in this case Winterboard and MobileTerminal, they show as downlaoding / downloaded (and also selected afterwards), but they don't appear / install after pwning (I looked in pwnage's .app folder, and they aren't there either. I did a fresh download of pwnage, and started from scratch, but the same things happen. So not sure if it's Cydia or pwnage related.
What do u mean from your above statement? Please tell us honestly what is the changes of you guy to unlock it? If u guy have no clue then let us know..So, we no longer put high hope on it !
thnks dev team

You guys are fucking awesome
2.0.2 was a pain,
you guys really fuckin rock
Thank you Dev Team.. Honestly there are some of us that are truly grateful for your passion, time, efforts and kindness in sharing your products.
But still, keep up the good work, you guys kick ass!!

(I don't want to point fingers at Cydia - it just seems to be the case from my testing)
I have tested various settings in PwnageTool. Whenever "Cydia" is included, my WiFi password is 'forgotten' on the iPhone (I need to re-enter it after phone goes to sleep/is turned ON again).
Whenever "Cydia" is NOT included, it seems to remember my WiFi password.
PwnageTool options tested:
-- NON-expert, default options: forgets WiFi password
-- Expert, NO Cydia, NO Installer: remembers WiFi password
-- Expert: WITH Cydia, NO Installer: forgets WiFi password
-- Expert: NO Cydia, WITH Installer: remembers WiFi password
In all cases:
- Using Sparkle-updated PwnageTool 2.0.3 on x86 Mac Mini
- First-gen iPhone, previously Pwned
- Using Apple firmware: iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw
- When restoring to custom .ipsw, used DFU-mode restore (screen is black)
- After restore, when itunes prompts, I choose 'new' iphone option, then UN-check "automatically sync contacts/etc".
- When using Expert mode, I used default options for everything except Cydia/Installer selection
- Paulb
seriously
this password bullshit needs to be fixed.
i cant deal with this incorrect password every three seconds.
im going back to 2.0.1
seriously
ssh into your phone and fix it.
I had no problems at all with the password, but it seems that those that did, were able to fix it quickly.
seriously
good reply! :)
Thank you!!
your work will be rewarded...
if you are having problems with passwords,
install Open SSH
using terminal ssh into the phone by typing
"ssh root@your_iphones_ip"
and when is asks for the password enter alpine
then type "chmod 777 /var/Keychains"
and reboot the iphone
it should work ok after that
hope this helps some.
- Don't include "Cydia" in your custom .ipsw (see my other posts for more details). In my testing: If I don't include "Cydia" in the custom .ipsw, I don't have any password problems. (you must use "Expert mode" in PwnageTool to remove Cydia). Of course, if you rely on Cydia (for "Winterboard" install, for example), then this isn't a good solution for you.
-- or --
- wait for update from Dev Team (I assume there'll be a fix soon)
- Paulb
Your (better) solution gets you a fix while keeping Cydia/Winterboard. My alternative just gets a non-tech user up and running with 2.0.2 until the Dev Team is ready with a fix.
- Paulb
got a lil irritated with those pop ups. i had to install vista on my
mac through boot camp just to jailbreak 2.0.2. and i was hoping to see
this update work flawlessly. one minor flaw. its all good.
of course, even if your phone doesn't have the password problem, mobileme is still 'buggy' and sometimes doesn't sync data. (although, at the moment, it seems to be working for me)
- Paulb
Regards,
HomeGrown
I fixed the password issue with wireless by doing "chmod 0777 /var/Keychains" as suggested in the comments beforehand.

Eagerly waiting for the 3G baseband unlock to release.....
Keep up the good work. I know you guys will crack it....dats what The Dev Team is up for.

That should fix this issue right up.
120 version works fine, 150 not.
running vista x64
Faulting application QuickPwn.exe, version 1.5.0.0, time stamp 0x48b2ec57, faulting module KERNEL32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791ada5, exception code 0xe0434f4d, fault offset 0x000000000002649d, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.
Keep up the good work. However i do have one question...
Am I correct in not updating to 2.02 in order to prevent the baseband from updating, therefore keeping the anticipated 3G unlock simple?
Thanks again
You guys are doing a fantastic job :-) !!!
Any mirrors so i don't have to update through the actual Pwnage app??
Are these settings pushed on first sync? Or how does that work?
Any place that has info on this?
it used to work with quickpwn..
an suggestions..
please if somebody did, email me at david.machakhelidze@gmail.com
