Couldn't wait for the Win version yesterday (I missed Cydia oh so much) so I jailbroke mine on my friends Mac. Worked like a charm and I was still able to sync fine with my PC when I got home. I tip my hat to you good sirs, without your excellent Pwnage my iPhone would not be operating at its fullest level.

Flawless...took 5 minutes. Lots more interactivity on the iPhone to know the steps happening instead of seeing a pineapple for a long time as before. it helps the user sit and be patient.

also, prior problems with Phone app not working from a MAC to PC restore of ipsw from pawnage are now gone.

Hi guys. Thanks for pwnage. I just wanted to ask, why you always enter DFU mode in such a weird way?
All you need is to connect the phone, turn it off, press and hold HOME and press POWER simply to turn phone on. Keep holding HOME until your computer finds phone in DFU mode - it's that simple! Get rid of this awful instuctions for DFU :)

This is not DFU, its the simplest "restore mode" that is really different than a DFU.
DFU permit you to boot with iBoot or something like that in nearly RS232 protocol meaning that the kernel not already booted and you can put kernel/ramdisk/initrd with like a zmodem/tftp method,
Simple restore is a already booted kernel that can restore filesystems (like rescue or single mode of UNIX) that can communicate with iTunes with higher protocol.

DFU is needed for exploiting (first time) flaw of Apple hardware booting method.
(btw, if they want 100% failsafe bootmethods, there will always be flaws in it)

If your device already jailbroken, then you don't need entering DFU mode (quickpwn does not use this method, but Pwnage use it)

iphone 3G, firmware 2.1, baseband "modem firmware" 02.11.07 after the quickpwn2.1. See http://sleepers.net/news/2008/09/14/iphone-fw-2...
1) 3g reception is so much better. The new baseband, v2. 11.07 comes with 2.1. The baseband is so much better. For the first time ever I can actually get 3g in my house! 2.0 came with 1.45.01 which was ok. 2.0.1 came with 1.48.02 and it was horrible. 2.0.2 came with 2.08 and it was much better (similar to 1.45). Now 2.11.07 is way better than any of the previous versions. This is a serous improvement. Note: 2g reception is identical. The baseband on 2g did not update. No better, no worse on 2g.

Same thing happened with me a while back when i was doin the 2.0.2 firmware pwnage. Just delete the quickpwn program or pwnage tool and then redownload it and try again.

Hello there.

Yes, if you update to firmware 2.1 by restoring via iTunes you will lose your jailbreak. However you can reapply it with this application which will also activate and unlock your phone as required.

Hi Juneau

You can't, unfortunately. Updating wipes them all, but if you install AptBackup from cydia, you can, sort of.

Once installed, backup your iphone, update, jailbreak, install AptBackup from cydia, run it then restore. You might have to to a restore in iTunes.

It doesn't actually backup your apps. It creates a list of cydia installed apps then re-installs them by downloading them again. It worked for me. Jailbroken & unlocked original iPhone 2.02 pwn'ed all the way from 1.1.2. Go Dev team

Alright I think I'm the ONLY ONE having problems with this...

I ran the program, no probs, I even saw the pinapple dude and all the loading stuff ON my iPhone and then at the reboot phase (at the end of it all) it just hangs. It keeps trying to reboot, and all I see is the pineapple logo on my screen for like 20 mins. I waited then I came here ha, not sure what to do!

Info: 1st gen iPhone, I updated 2.1 FW from Apple last week and have been using it since, but I wanted jailbroken so I got this software.

Mine did the same thing. I did a restore, and am in the process of restoring my phones apps/items/etc from the backup I made. I was going to try again, but was hoping someone might have a solution if it does it again.

I went through the whole process, it said it should be complete and to wait for it to reboot. It sits at the Apple logo for a long time (I didn't install the custom) and then a white screen flashes real quick, and the phone restarts and goes back to the Apple logo. Over and over.

so I did a 'fresh out of the box' restore, and then I used this new Quickpwn, and THEN i'm going to do a restore from my last backup... thankfully they shortened the backup process in 2.1 so I can actually do one :)

I have the same exact problem. It occurred even before I jailbroke. I Quickpwned it anyway and that all worked fine, but it's not booting any further than the apple logo. It vibrates twice every so often and then restarts again and again. Never gets to the lock screen.

I thought that maybe the issue was that I was trying to run quickpwn in an unsupported OS since my computer is running Windows 2008 Server 64 bits but I just tried it on my lapyop using Vista 32 bits and I am having the same issue :(

I had this issue aswell. I got the pinapple and then when it restarted it only showed the apple logo. What I did was went into recovery mode and installed the software and then restored from my backup. Sync, then started. I stopped it by clicking the x. Then closed itunes. Ran quickpwn and then pwned it and this time it worked. I then synced all my data back.

I had the same problem. It took ages to fix.
Anyhow, here's the solution.

1. Do a fresh install.
2. QuickPWN
3. Install Winterboard.
4. Do your Restore from Backup
5. Enjoy

It appears (to me anyway) that the iPhone just keeps trying to boot Winterboard that's not available after a fresh install.

It will say something like there was an error in the mobile substrate and Winterboard has crashed and has to start in safe mode. Restoring from backup and installing apps should bring your phone back to it's normal state.

Hey, to help anyone having the same problem that I had...

If your phone is constantly rebooting,
"holding both you buttons on you iPot Touch or iPhone for 10 seconds and releasing the standby button (on top). Continue to hold the main button (on front) for 10 seconds and release. You will get you phone back to its out-of-box state."

Once this is done, you can restore from your last backup. This won't install any of your old apps or songs, etc. Those you can just get from your own library on iTunes. Before installing them, re-quickpwn. Mine worked perfectly, and now I can add my stuff back to the phone.

Btw, as an UNIX xpert, i want to thank you about your really good work in the initial ramdisk and the exploit of the flaw of hardware bootloader / iTunes protocol to make us possible to hack our iPhone with installing GCC and SSH that make us possible whatever we think about :-D.

(you probably know that im posting this reply with Firefox/windows plateform, its because iTunes fcking not already ported to Linux or BSD and "alternatives" method for putting medias on phone dont work correctly (after 15 altered/corrupted iTunes databases, i prefer use iTunes than restoring my 15Gb of music)

yes, install iTunes 8, update with Apple update method to 2.1 (you will loose your jailbroken apps/folders/data) and after use QuickPwn (that will need fiwmare that is in iTunes ApplicationData folder) to recreate a ramdisk with useful stuff inside (jailbreak).

I downloaded this Twice!I know it works but it's taking me sooo Long!It never worked i open the program run it have my ipod touch 2nd generation running 2.1.1!but when they ask me for the firmware i search for it click on it a little black ball keeps spinning around then it stops but then i can't continue jailbreaking my ipod touch!Please help me guys if it helps im running

Hey Xlink, try right clicking on the quickpwn.exe and then select run as administrator. I also have Vista Ultimate and it works perfectly on my machine. Sometimes Vista just gets a little cranky. Good Luck

On a 3G iPhone, to avoid some problems, do a clean restore to 2.1 & syncronize, don't restore. Maybe that will clean up any problems. Only do if you have problems on 3G. Otherwise, should work no problemo. No info to share on 2G yet.

It doesn't matter where you jailbreak the phone, quickpwn does all its work on the phone. I'm not sure if you need itunes installed for the phone driver in windows though...

You're correct that you do require iTunes to be installed on the PC on which you run QuickPwn. However it does not have to be the PC you use to sync with your device.

Hi,
Thanks for all the great work. One slight problem I was hoping somebody could help me with though. I have a first gen iPod Touch running firmware 2.1 I tried to use this program and everything was going great until the “Preparing your device-please follow the instructions above” screen, it hanged on “Wait for your iPod to connect in Recovery Mode...” for three hours. I was warned that this might take some time but is three hours right?

that's normal, leave iphone in station, close itunes and ituneshelper in task manager, and start quickpwn, that's all (don't forget to download the bootloaders before). after the process, everythings back to normal...

i used a pwned 2.1 firmware before but it didnt update my modem # so i want to do it the official "windows" quickpwn way again. Is it possible to "update" to 2.1 with iTunes even tho i'm already on 2.1 (with the wrong modem #) or do i need to restore?

Hehe Spike - I used the pwned firmware that you posted earlier and also wanted to upgrade my baseband.

To upgrade I did the following (on windows vista).

1. Installed aptbackup on my phone and took a backup of my cydia apps.
2. Synced with iTunes 8 to backup the data to iTunes.
3. Used restore mode in ITunes 8 to restore to the official 2.1.
4. Used the new QuickPwn to pwn the device.
5. Restored my backup from iTunes.
6. Installed aptbackup.
7. Restored all cydia apps.
8. Synced with iTunes again to restore the music/movies/apps.

It took a while, but it kept everything and updated the baseband,

The new 2.1 QuickPwn was a very slick experience with the new logos and stuff. Thanks very much to the dev team for it.

This worked great! I've gotten my pwned 2.0 3G set up just how I liked it and have been hesitant to update, because of all the problems reported here, and didn't want to have to re-install all of my cydia apps.

I followed these steps and everything went swimmingly. I've got all my apps/settings how I like them, and a perfectly functional pwned 2.1 os.

First of all.. thx to dev-team for this rls =)

1. I updated to 2.1 via iTunes 8
2. I closed iTunes und ituneshelper.exe (iPodService.exe and AppleMobileDeviceService.exe => still running)
3. I started QuickPwn followed all steps BUT then it displays.. "Wait your iPhone to connect in Recovery Mode.."
I'm pretty sure that it went into Recovery Mode now.... because there is the cable sign with the arrow to the iTunes icon.... but in QuickPwn nothing happens... still the message "Wait for your iPhone to connect in Recovery Mode" and at the bottom the circle is turning ... Preparing your device... follow.....

With all other Versions / Rls from the dev-team i had no probs but now i don't have any idea how to fix that...
Does anybody has an idea what i could do??

BINGO!!!
I've found the solution.
go in your windows Control Panel Services manager and set to AUTOMATIC the following services (I had them disabled, don't know exactly witch one of those is to blame):

Logical Disk Manager
Protected Storage
Secondary Logon
SSDP Discovery Service
Terminal Services

Then restart Windows.

when phone is pwned, you can disable them again if you like. Just remember to enable next time you hack your iPhone's FW. ; )

I think this should be highlighted somewhere as many people face these problems.

stuck in recovery mode loop with apple logo and throbber image on the bottom of the iphone screen.

when i tried to restore, it went thru this process (in Itunes 8):

1) extracting ...
2) preparing iphone for restore ...
3) waiting for iphone ...
4) restoring iphone software ...

then when the progress bar gets half way done, i get this error message "The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)."

clicking OK on the message dialog, i get this message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "" because of an unknown error occurred (0xE8000035)."

i have a jailbroken 1st gen 8GB iPhone w/ 1.1.3 FW. now, it's an expensive brick.

i'm finally got over this humongous hump.

here's what i did to get pass the recovery mode loop.

1) closed itunes
2) held home and power buttons on iphone for 10 secs
3) waited about 30 secs, then start up iphone and connect usb cable to computer
4) startup itunes and go thru the restore process and some how, this time it worked.

after the restore, i was able to quickpwn the phone.

but now i have no service.

dang, now i have an ipod touch.

QuickPWN reboots my iPod into Recovery mode (USB + iTunes logo) instead of DFU mode like it's suppose to... There is no "found new hardware" popup on my Windows XP, and QuickPWN doesn't go past waiting to connect to "recovery mode."

Hi There, thanks for releasing QuickPwn for 2.1.

I just did a successful Pwn of my iPhone 3G and First-Generation iPhone. When i wantted to recover my Jailbroken (Cydia) apps using Saurik's AptBackup my iPhone 3G wouldn't boot anymore. I'm now busy with a complete restore. Too bad, i'm loosing some settings, but this is always better then completly bricking my iPhone.

Thanks to the DevTeam for releasing a Pwn for 2.1 so fast. I still need it for some settings Apple wouldn't let me to... (Auto Correction... BiteSMS (Will come to the AppStore soon, but i like the character counter and stuff...)

thank you so much dev-team! i really appreciate all te work you have done. unfortunately i have a big issue with it. i get stuck on the boot logo evertime. i have tried three times (restored in between) and its always the same result. it tries to boot up, it even get that "piip" sound it makes when its connected to a coputer, and i get a popup (on the coputer) which asks if i want to import photos from it (i am also able to import photos from it!), but it never gets to the home screen. after a while it crashes and tries to boot up again. i own an ipod touch 16gb, and run XP on my computer.

Hi, i have a really big problem on my 3G iphone. I've updated to 2.1 with you pwnage tool and now I'm not able to make any calls. When I'm trying to get to the dial pad (by pressing Phone) the dial pad is showing for 1 or 2 seconds (without accepting any input) and then dissapears. Can anybody help me? Greetings, Marcel

Did you install anything using Installer. I loaded some program that was like "winterboard" and it messed everything up on my phone also. Uninstalled and then no problems. I can make calls again.

Yes you need wifi to fix the apn settings, assuming that the apn setting was the problem in the first place.

Hi. I have successfully jailbroken my iPhone 3G using QuickPWN 2.1 GUI. But to be honest it wasn't that easy. After the QuickPWN programs says "wait for your device to reboot..", my iPhone was stuck in the boot logo for quite sometime. The iPhone vibrates several times and it gets me worried sick. It doesn't boot at all. What I did was, while the iPhone was booting, I disconnected the USB cable, opened iTunes 8 and then re-attached the USB cable. The home screen showed up.

Another thing is when I delete applications from the Apple Store on the iPhone screen, sometimes the iPhone restarts by itself bringing you back to the boot logo. Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix this?

You need to download windows .net 2.0 google it and get it from micrsoft install it and you'll me able to open quickpwn. Worked for me. My new problem is that it hangs..

Hi Guys,

I did something wrong somewhere…
- I upgraded the firmeware on 2.1 via itunes
- I launched quickpwn ( window xp)
- The program run quick good
- and at the end he was rebooting the iphone, but now, the screen is black with the apple logo and the iphone is vibrating every 2 seconds…

Itunes does not also recognizing the iphone, it says that it is locked by a password. As I have a black screen I can not dial anything.

Is there someone there that may understand my issue and could helping me fixing it?

Same thing happened to me, being stuck with the apple logo and the vibration... My guess is that you had iTunes running when you ran quickpwn. Try rebooting the iphone (with the power and home keys pressed) and redo the whole thing making sure you shut down iTunes once quickpwn recognizes the iphone. Good luck

Itunes could identify it under the “recuperation mode”. Then I just had to restore it with the firmeware 2.1 and do all the process again.
I don’t know what happened first, but it works very well now!!!!

It will activate if and only if you're not already activated. So activate first and then use this tool if you can legitimately activate. Most people end up doing this anyway, so there was no need to make people overthink it.

Some answers to Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Error: "Cannot properly initialize (0xc0000135). Click Ok to end application"
Solution: Install Net Framework 2.0 and it will work.
2. Error while Pwn process, program stucks at "Wait for iPhone to connect in Recovery Mode."
Solution: Try to use another PC and it will work. (worked for me too, i used normal iTunes 8 and QuickPwn with original 2.1 restore image.)

I thought I checked the jailbreak and unlock checkboxes, but when I put in my tmobile sim card it recognizes it but says, "Not a valid SIM card, please connect to iTunes" or something. Is something wrong? Or did I just probably not check the unlock box? I could swear I did.

I definitely appreciate the efforts of everybody enabling jailbreaking the iPhone and all the capabilities this brings.

I have been having some problems with my iPhone 3G since upgrading. I was previously on 2.0.1 with no huge problem, just the occasional safari crash and a few minor abnormalities. I mistakenly upgraded to 2.1 incorrectly and had to do a complete restore. After some painful moments, I followed the directions (when all else fails ...), and now have it to "successful" jailbroken 2.1 state.

However, I've had some new artifacts in this new version/state:
- Mail now consistently crashes towards the end of downloading new mail from any of my accounts;
- Safari has been crashing on more pages (consistently);
- IntelliScreen is intermittent, and in fact at one point today it popped up spontaneously while I was using the iPhone;
- 4 minutes into a call, the whole phone spontaneously rebooted with nothing but the call going on (no background surfing, etc);
- And other intermittent crashes ...

I'm not certain what is causing all of these problems. I did say that I originally did the 2.0.1-to-2.1 upgrade incorrectly (repeating reboots) forcing a complete restore, but that worked as advertised. I tried to use aptbackup (per the directions) but the "restore" actually installed nothing and I had to do it all manually.

I'm going to give it another day or so to try to find more bugs and/or find patterns to the crashes and reboots. If so, I'll have two options:
- Try another "upgrade" to 2.1; or
- Downgrade back to 2.0.1.

I much prefer the stability I had in 2.0.1 to what I've seen over the last day, but I'm trying to work through it and find the culprits.

Has anybody else been seeing instability like this in jailbroken 2.1?

I have not upgraded to 2.1 yet but I had a similar problem on 2.0.2 with mail crashing after downloading and after a bit of research realized that the bossprefs app (from Cydia) has a option to "fix user dir permissions" if you click the more button in the top right. This fixed the problem perfectly and mail.app works just as good as before. Give this a try and post back if it fixes the problem in 2.1.

When it was stuck rebooting, that's the guide (sleepers.net) that got me basically working again, albeit with (previously reported) bugs and problems. I actually did do the "fix user permissions" thing as well, and it didn't fix it real-time.

I've been monitoring the phone for several days now, and this has become moot. Though I don't know what did it (fix permissions, reboot, fix again, crash, reboot, etc), eventually it resolved itself. The stability of the iPhone itself is quite good at this point. (IntelliScreen is still acting a little weird.)

Quickpwn crashes for me when you are at the step of letting go of the Power button and continuing holding down the Home button for 30 seconds. Between the 8th second and the 20th second quickpwn crashes without a warning or an error message. in the apple.log the following are the last messages :

Kind of worked for me, I activated and jailbroke my 2G iPhone with the 2.1 firmware, but unlock didn't work. Inserting a non AT&T SIM card causes the "Different SIM detected" message and it locks the phone. Interestingly the phone still has the service and can receive calls when it is locked, but it makes it pretty much unusable. I've seen similar posts on different forums and looks like the problem related to the un-patched lockdownd daemon (or incorrectly patched). It would be nice if that can be fixed in the next release. Otherwise the phone works fine with the jailbroken firmware, i could not find any differences between using original or jailbrocken firmware.

Tried Jailbreak using QuickPwn 2.1 on WinXP Sp2. Reached to the point where I got the message:
"The Pwnage process appears to have completed successfully.
Please wait for your device to reboot in its newly modified state."
The phone is stuck in that screen with apple logo on the phone for last 20 minutes. Looks like it has tried to restart a couple of times but is not booted yet. I did get a connected windows message on the USB. I did have quite a few apps before trying Jailbreak. Anyone have any clues? Looks like the reboot is timing out or something.

Restored to original 2.1 and skipped backup restore. Re-ran QuickPwn for jailbreaking and voila it worked. I guess need to have a clean slate for QuickPwn. Running the data backup restore now so that I can have same settings and apps etc as before.

You QuickPwn'ed with the legit SIM inside, so QuickPwn chose not to do hacktivation (seeing that you were already activated). I would put the third-party SIM in, restore with iTunes, and then use QuickPwn.

Cool software... iTunes took 45 minutes to backup my first gen iPhone, then a few more to upload the new software, then Quickpwn just took ... well, it just worked... question is, I cant find the icon for Cydia. Any ideas where it might be ?? thanks again for exelent software

Hi guys I need some help please

I restored my 2G iPhone pressing shift key to 2.1 firmware. Then I quickpwned but in the last step it gets stuck "Preparing your device - please follow the instructions" but the line "Hold down home button for 5 secs" never gets highlighted, I mean how many time does it take to prepare de device?? Any idea?

it needs to be off in the first place. as you begin to hold down buttons, the screen will go blank. but it is still working! it will be detected when the button holding thing is done, even though it looks like it is off. hope this helps

First, I'd would like to say thanks for trying to help.


I have tried this now over 15 times, the same result. It turns off (like off as in NO DFU). Quickpwn gives me an error, then goes to the confirmation step before it. After that I just press the power button, and my ipod tuens on. With no songs or apps or anything gone. I really want this, so if anyone can offer help.

you can tell AIM to stay connected. Go to your settings, you should see AIM if it's installed, and then set your settings to stay connected when closing the app. I'm not sure which other ones do the same thing.

I have a big problem.

Restored not upgraded to 2.1, jailbreaked fine using quickpwn, it boots fine, i can make calls,etc. Plug it back in to itunes to restore all my stuff and after its done, it just hangs on the pineapple logo. Funny thing is, itunes still sees it and tries to sync, it can't complete the sync because after a few minutes the phone reboots.

Now its just sitting there, rebooting, and rebooting, and well, rebooting. So it comes down to either taking an unjailbroken 2.1, or a jailbroken 2.1 with none of my stuff on there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys. Glad to say mine worked (from before). I just tried it to more times. The first time I faced the exact same problem as you.

Solution: I restored it to a NEW IPOD. NO BACKUPS. And also did not check the change icon. It works perfect. Try it! :)

I am almost facing the same issue. Everything with Quickpwn goes fine and it finishes and when it reboots, it sits at the pineapple logo for a long time with the 2 vibrations repeating every few mins. I have done this about 7-8 times and haven't gotten lucky yet. After a few reboots though, I am able to get into the iPhone and use it. But, no Cydia or Installer. Everything else appears normal. Any ideas? (iPhone 2.1 upgrade via iTunes 8 already done in Vista)

i used the tool and i pwned it and etc and unlocked it with my hong kong simcard in there, but when it turns back on it tells me to connect to itunes and etc and says its a different sim, is there a way i can fix this? i can receive phone calls and stuff but i cant use text messaging or anything, its just the emergency phone call thing and the 'different SIM detected please connect to itunes' anyone can help =x? thank you

me too, it crashes every time i try to open it.
however i can receive calls as normal.
when i try to go into contacts this dials the number but the screen goes black and i only hear the dial tone.

Just a shame all the cydia downloaded stuff is deleted - make sure you have a list of those apps, so you can easily re-install them!

can someone please help me. I have a 3g iPhone that was jailbroken with 2.0.2. I was trying to follow the instructions with quickpwn Windows and i’m running Vista. iTunes was updated to 8.0 already. I tried to restore the iPhone using the custom firmware and got nowhere. I then just tried to update to 2.1 so that I could just jailbreak while already on 2.1 and now I have this annoying fuckin Steve Jobs looking screen everytime everytime i turn on the phone and NOTHING ELSE! Just wanted to update those reading this. When I restored to factory setting and then Quickpwned, it worked like a charm. But, after I synced to my backup to get my settings back, I didn't see Cydia or Installer anymore although everything else was back to normal. Is this because I had already Quickpwn'ed it in firmware 2.0.2 and trying again? Is anyone else having the same problem?

The Winodos QuickPwn 2.1 worked a treat - really smooth and easy to use piece of software with a great interface - thanks iphone dev team.

Except..... a couple of my apps don't work. These two in particular:

- iCal
- Facebook

and some others that I don't really care about.

Any suggestions?

I have a question.

I have had my Iphone 3g Jailbroken since the 2.0.2 edition. One day I have realized that I could not change lock-screen wallpaper. When I change it says it has successfully set new wallpaper, but the old one stays.

I have googled and found some rumors about Customize application (which I once had installed) changing permissions to wallpaper files, and that is why. Possible but how do I fix it? I downloaded a new version of Customize App, now I see that it cannot change the wallpaper itself (if I apply a theme, everything is changed, except for lock screen wallpaper).

And then another thing - App store programs. I can not update any application, unless I delete it first and retry the installation of update. Looks like same right management problem.

Any idea on how to solve this without doing full restore and starting from scratch?

Forgotten to add that now it is 2.1 and jailbroken. Not Apple Update to 2.1, neither new Jailbreak of 2.1 have changed things regarding lock screen wallpaper and app store apps updating.

For the people whose phones still arent accepting other sim cards even after they are unlocked, getting the "Different Sim card, please connect to iTunes error", I did some research and found out a way to fix it that works for me. Hopefully the dev team will fix the problem themselves in a future patch. In the meantime:

1. Download patched lockdown folder from here: http://rs309.rapidshare.com/files/139572019/Loc...

2. Connect you iPhone to the computer via USB.

3. Download and run iPhoneBrowser 1.8 to get in to your phone folders.

4. Navigate to to /private/var/root/Library/ and copy the "lockdown" folder to your desktop (for backup, just in case).

5. Delete the original lockdown folder from the phone.

6. Unzip downloaded patched lockdown folder and drag and drop in to were the original lockdown folder was.

7. Close the iPhoneBrowser, disconnect your phone, and reboot it.

8. That should be it, put in a SIM card to test it out.

I guess just try, try and try again. I now do not get the error. The only real thing I did different is that I restored from no backup (it was previously restored from one of my own backups). not sure what exactly made it work now.

I installed successfully but none of the applications from Installer will actually INSTALL.
I select them, they go into tasks, but tasks disappear and nothing gets installed.

I've tried this a buncha times but whenever I jailbreak with QuickPwn 2.1 everything on my phone works but my contacts dont synchronize with the exchange server (this works before doing jailbreak)... any ideas? is this a bug?

sorry for the below message... its kinda working but is having delays in data being pushed for like 10 minutes (can be a temporary mobile me service issue) so ill wait 1 day to check if it works correctly or not.

On the other hand its working great... i somehow slowed down my 2.0 to much that it takes dam time to open the contacts but now in 2.1 all contacts are opening fast.

upgraded to 2.1 and the MOBILE ME PUSH MAIL NOT WORKING.

Kindly try to solve the issue.... restoring back to 2.0 since mobile me was fine in that but in 2.1 manual updates is only working not the push service.

Primero: Espero que hayas actualizado a 2.1 usando la opcion de RESTORE y no UPDATE. Si no es asi, pon tu telefono en modo DFU y selecciona RESTORE.
Segundo: Ya que este resturado, cierra iTunes (8.0) y baja el QuickPwn 2.1 y sigue las instrucciones al pie de la letra.
Tercero: si nada de eso sirve, manda correo para instrucciones precisas.

DON'T UPGRADE IF YOU ARE A MOBILE ME USER.

Firstly i would like to thank the dev team for the latest Pwnapple. Their work is all correct and iphone is working without any problem.

Secondly the not working mobile me email is a bug by apple (not the dev team) so all people who use mobile me don't upgrade since you'll loose your push email facility by upgrading.

If the iphone is plugged in charging the push email gets activated. When u unplug the charger the push email de-activates and manual mail checks of 15 minutes get activated and even those 15 minutes checks are not accurate. Some mails are getting received after 45 to 50 minutes delayed. (Now i got it why they say improved battery time). Great way to screw people to activate push mail by plugging in charger and saying its working.

I'm really confused...

I bought my iphone 3g (8GB) yesterday and I want to know if I can safely customize it yet (ie. jailbreak etc.) I've searched all over and there seems to be so many different versions of phones that i'm scared I will use the wrong tool and brick my phone. I've been reading a lot of posts and haven;t found the answer 100% so if someone could please help me out by telling me if it's safe to do so yet and then point me to the tutorial/in the right direction I would great appreciate it.

I didn't backed up my Apps... I had my contacts and music on my computer, automatically synced, so all I lost were the Installer Apps... but make a list of your Apps before you do this, and look for them on Installer or the AppStore...

DONE!!!

Did it on my iPhone 2G, from 1.1.4, previously unlocked using ZiPhone.
Everything worked GREAT!!! Just follow the instructions closely.
Did it on XP, I did a full restore, wiping everything from the phone.
Only thing I miss are my Notes! everything else I had backed up. I'll reinstall my Installer applications later.

Im in Mexico. Phone now working on Movistar network!

Le di RESTORE, porque lei en todos los comentarios de aqui que era mucho más seguro que te saliera todo bien si le dabas RESTORE. Así que le di RESTORE y seleccioné el archivo que bajé, y todo transcurrió sin problemas...

I am in the situation where I have a first gen iPhone, that I jailbroke and unlocked using iPlus. right now my iPhone has 1.1.4 on it. The instructions say to update your iPhone to the latest firmware 2.1 using iTunes but I heard that if you try to update the firmware on an already hacked iPhone, the update bricks the iPhone and it gets completely locked and can't be used. Is this true?

So I just upgraded my previously pwned 2G iPhone to 2.1 in iTunes 8. I was getting ready to pwn again using Quick pwn 2.1 when I realized that my phone has remaind unlcoked and activated!?!

Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't it have been relocked after the update? Cydia is gone and now the phone reads Version 2.1 (5F136)

The only thing I can think of is that I also have a legit 3G iPhone through Fido (Canadian Company) and just prior to upgrading my 2G phone, I ugraded my 3G to 2.1. Could this be what is causing my 2G to remain unlocked and be activated? Maybe iTunes cached my carrier info or something? The 2G phone I have is also on the Fido network and when in the general settings / about it says Carrier fido 2.6 on both phones (don't remember it saying that before but it very well could have)

Anyway feedback on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nvm got it to work, i downloaded another quickpwn, one without the quickpwn-GUI and that one worked, iwas was really confused since only some parts of every tutorial i found online would have the GUI version... oh well.

After reading through those posts it seems to happen randomly and seems to be an apple problem not a jailbreak problem.

For example, in the link above this guy has two iphones, a work and a home one and one was fried, one was not. Plenty of people here seem to have been able to jailbreak their phones without a problem. If it does happen, you should be able to get a new one from your provider without too much trouble.

1st - DONT WORRY! this has happened maaaany times while i was trying to jailbreak my ipod touch 1G..
2nd - Turn it off by holding first the hold button, and then then home button, STILL HOLDING THE HOLD BUTTON until it suddenly dies.
3rd - while it is off, hold the home button and then, still holding it, connect it to your pc/mac and KEEP HOLDING the home button until itunes says it needs to be restored or something .

I just installed it. Quite tricky. You did the entire jailbreak on the iPhone itself. It uploads a bootloader and a ramdisk to get it started and everything else is done right on the phone. Anyways I successfully installed it for 2.1 on my iPhone. Note that I had done a shift restore before to get 2.1 and opted out of the jailbreak initially. I chose to hold off for an official one and glad I did. Great job!

P.S. - I noticed that the sound didn't work after using cydia once. I had this happen on 2.0.2 as well. If this happens then simply reboot your iPhone to correct it. On that note I noticed that cydia seems to be spitting out an error on the top part when getting the repository information. It spits out a bzip2 error. Anyone else notice this?

hey guys, i'm having trouble running the QuickPwn 2.1 for windows. it seems that everytime i run it, i receive this error
"the application failed to initialize properly (oxc0000135). click on OK to terminate the application."

does anyone know what this means?
i just upgraded my firmware to 2.1 using Itunes 8.0

OK VERY STRANGE, I tried to update my iphone from 2.0 to 2.1 which I jailbroke and unlocked from here, when I updated the software to 2.1 I was about to use the Pawnage tool, and then I released my phone works perfect - it seems unlocked without it..... I am on the same network O2 Ireland which has the iphone contract but im not an iphone customer, i bought the phone online.....

I have been having problems using installer. Namely it continuously crashes and occasionally mixes up all my icons. Is this a known issue? Is it possible for me to perform the jailbreak again and deselect installer to remove it (I also want to add the pwnapple logo to my phone) or will that cause problems?

I've run the app from my PC with my v1 iPhone. The installation seemed to go fine, and the iPhone seems jail broken. However, when I put in *my* SIM (versus the AT&T SIM the phone had in it), it refused to accept it. Should I try it again with my SIM in the phone?

Hey I have jailbroken my phone with quickpwn 2.1 on windows and everything worked fine untill i purchased and installed BeeJiveIM, which would freeze up while trying to log into my AIM account. I know it's caused by something that has to do with jailbreak. could be packages from cydia or something, but it works fine on a fresh restore, then when i jailbreak, problems start to happen.

updated my phone to the new 2.1 (5F136) update. and i downloaded the newest version of quickpwn for windows. when i try to use quickpwn it pops up with a message saying "This Version Of Quickpwn can only jailbreak devices with versions > = 2.0" and wont let me do anything. did i download something wrong?? i downloaded the newest quickpwn version for windows and i downloaded the newest firmware for the backup. is there anything im missing??

it probably didn't break your baseband the only thing to check that is to do the factory restore within itunes to put the 2.1 software back onto the phone.

the only things that you will loose is your sms record and your email setup plus all your settings and game saves on your applications. what i would do is a full backup before you actually do the jailbreak and if you do that you can go back to have everything if something you find is unrecoverable or non transferable to the jailbreak software.

i would also follow the instructions in the link that i have included because it works and it is very clear on how to do it.

Hello, I have the iphone 3g 2.1 and itunes 8.1. something (up to date). I downloaded the Windows QuickPwn 2.1, placed it in a folder I created for it and opened the rar file in that newly created folder.


quickpwn.exe is telling me to connect my device. it is but I can't move forward becazuse it does not see my device..any help?

the new quick pawn recognised my iphone 3g on the 2.1 software release but i was not able to get the phone to actually work and no internet on it. i will put the link for the method that i used and the links just follow them and you should have that fixed.

Just got an iPhone 3G 8GB this morning, and being the everloving tinkerer, I decided to try my hand at Jailbreaking it. With that said, keep in mind I lack most basic knowledge when it comes to this procedure, and while I've been reading non-stop about it, I may be overlooking something.

I'm following the video tutorial for Jailbreaking with windows @:

I've followed the steps up to where the iPhone reboots itself.

Things to note:
I do not have iTunes opened when I'm doing this.
I started the process with my iPhone on.

QuickPwn hangs with "Wait for your phone to connect in recovery mode..." in bold. It never moves down the list of steps.

However...the iPhone DOES reboot into recovery mode, as I hear the windows chimes for disconnect and reconnect of hardware, and the phone is stuck with the words "iTunes" and the picture of the plug on the screen.

If I start iTunes at this point, it tells me it's detected an iPhone attached in recovery mode, and from there I continue to restore it and shut down QuickPwn.

Anyone have any advice where I'm going wrong in this process? Thanks!

Hi, i tried jailbreaking my iphone 3g 2.1 and it worked great and was really easy but following the instructions as an end result i was unable to connect to the cell tower for phone and internet neither edge or 3g so is there anything that you guys can think of that might have been the issue? i really want to get this working so that i can get internet to my laptop if i don't have internet via wifi hotspot.

this only jailbreaks your 3g phone. it will not unlock it, so if you are not running an at&t sim then you will not have service
your 3g phone will only connect via 3g and not edge
I am supposing you didn't activate the phone using itunes, right?
I jailbroke my 3g iphone and 3g internet is working just like it did before the jailbreak

Updated the firmware to the latest version on my 2g iPhone without a hitch. I don't consider myself technologically savvy-the simplicity of the update process was impressively simple! One small issue-Installer is not on my iPhone now. Yes, I did indicate I wanted both Cydia and Installer included. Can I run Quickpwn again to try to install the app? I used QuickPwn 2.1 to unlock and jailbreak my Iphone running 2.1. I ran the program and did everything it asked me to do perfectly and it said it was a sucess. When i put my T-Mobile sim chip in it's telling me to connect to Itunes. So i connect to Itunes and it's telling me that the sim card isn't compatible. The funny thing is that in the back round when the sim chip is in the T-Mobile sign comes up and when someone calls me i can answer the phone but i can't do anything else because the connect to Itune sign comes up.

Does anyone know who to fix this?

Awesome. Now if it only worked on Windows Server 2003. It just gets to the first set of instructions and hangs forever. I had to reinstall my firmaware and jailbreak it on a different (XP) machine. Dangit.

Something I discovered is if you are trying to jailbreak from a Seidio dock, it won't finish. It will complain that the phone is not in the right mode. Nothing you do will make it work because of the Seidio connection. I used the Apple USB connector and it worked the first time.

You need to restore your iPhone to factory first before you use QuickPwn.

Insert the sim from the provider you WISH to use first.

Clear down the folder where your iTunes restore files are Should be “C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates” (where %username% is your PC’s profile name)

Open iTunes with the iPhone connected and hold down the ‘home’ button. iTunes should recognise an iPone is connecting in ‘restore mode’. iTunes will now download and install the latest 2.1 firmware. Let it complete this but when it is finished do nothing more than close iTunes. DO NOT ACTIVATE THE PHONE just close iTunes.

Now run QuickPwn select the newly downloaded firmware that iTunes just installed from the folder above, click on and tick all the required boxes, choose the boot file paths and click on, go through all the steps and once the phone reboots you will be active with no prompt to activate! Happy Dayzz

The crutial part is the iPhone firmware must never have been activated via iTunes in the first place otherwise it will always fail when you change SIM cards.

After I used quickpwn to unlock my iphone 2G 2.1, I cannot connect to any wifi and my phone does not ring or vibrate when the screen is turned off. Please help.

This is the second phone that had this problem after I unlocked it with quickpwn. Everything worked fine on 2.0 and 2.0.1. I got a brand new iphone 2G to replace the old one and everything was fine yesterday. Today I upgraded to 2.1 and unlocked with quickpwn, then immediately I could not see wifi connections. My wifi was on, but it only searched for connections. And when people call my phone, they hear it ringing, but my phone does not respond at all while my screen is sleep. If I turn the screen on, it shows I have missed their calls. Is there anyway to fix this? On my last phone, I tried to restore it to no avail, then tried to restore it back down to 2.0.1, but I still get the same problems. I really need help, because I can't afford to have two iphones gone down the drain.

Tried QuickPwn, everything worked, I got my iphone unlocked, there's only one problem:

When I touch on the "Phone" icon to get to the number pad or the contacts, iphone freezes for 2-3 seconds and then gets me back to the "desktop" (default screen, whatever is called)...

Is it a known problem?

Can I do something to resolve it???

Sorry, is not the speaker but in the game Asphalt the sound is not good. (In auriculars too)

And in the music is OK but in the spekear i things so one speaker has less power.

PLEASE ANYONE CHEK THIS AND ANSWER ME.
