iPhone-dev blog: Rush, rush, rush....

  • Michael Blach · 1 year ago
My God. How can I tell that we're living in a spoilt world where people have life so easy that being patient, and allowing those we depend on to carry on with their work is an "irritation" and we are so offended that we dare accuse them of being pompous and self righteous. How dare you.

The Dev team, are not only giving up their own time. It seems to me that they have given up a lot more, a LOT more, so people like you and me can go out on dates, go see a movie, whatever, while they stay at home, coming home after work, working on a fix, then going straight back to work. For the general iPhone community, and all I can hear is people whining and whinging, that they want it now. Step back for a second; and ask yourself, have you ever been in a situation where you didn't know where your next meal will come from? if not, then I understand that good fortune through life has cursed you with the absence of the virtue that is patience. My family escaped Communist ruling in Poland almost 30 years ago, and immigrated to Australia to start over. Since then I worked hard to get where I am now, so I can afford an iPhone and all the other fun toys people like to play with. However; I can wait, because nothing in life is worth disrespecting others; and it seems to me that people that "want it now" don't truly appreciate what it is they have, and just want their new toys, and are willing to offend or upset anyone to get it.

Is this fair? What will happen if the iPhone Dev Team stops development?

Just learn to appreciate what you have; and be patient. Give them the respect that they have earned ten times over, and stop harassing them. It will be released when it is released, no ball park figures, just pure uncertainty. Go find a new hobby, occupy your time with something else, or tell a spouse you love them and spend time with them. Your life will be richer, and the update will be released before you know it.

Don't forget, they are doing you a favor, never bite the hand that feeds you.
  • demesne · 1 year ago
    My 2 cents...
Dev-team if you are a group of grown ups, as you say yourself to be, unlike geohot or zibri, you would not have got perturbed by any force. You should also get kicks out of people liking you so much that they come to your blog and force/trick you into releasing pwnage.

Really no reason of getting offended and like geohot said the iBoot exploit is yours, use it.

    cheers
  • test · 1 year ago
Hey, you're absolutely right. I Would really appreciate, if the dev team, would charge money for the new unlock and jailbreak tools to stop the fucking and annoying people, who are not able to wait.
  • Katinthehat · 1 year ago
You paint a colourful picure, and I must admit I was one of those that believed that the dev team were just showing off and irritating. I guess I have more tolerance and compassion, and you know what? It is just an iphone, at the end of the day it brings a little joy, and i'm not ready to give up my morals as a human being to voice an opinion about me wanting it now.
  • Jon · 1 year ago
Very well said. Glad you got first comment with something meaningful. Double score.
  • danfuhry · 1 year ago
Amen. I totally agree with releasing it when it's ready. I'm a developer myself and I totally understand how hard it is to meet release deadlines. You guys are pushing quality over timeliness, and I applaud that. Keep up the great work and keep showing Apple who really owns the iPhone ;-)

Yeah, I'm leaving for Texas on Thursday and it would be nice to have my 'touch jailbroken. But take your time and get a quality release out.

well zibiri just gave up with hacking haha. :) guess he finally realized the truth (ziphone.org) Dev team dont you just love it when everything works out in the end. gl w/ your testing

  • akedo1 · 1 year ago
To all those who want a quick release... Even when you get it now..What are you going to do with it? The apps need to be updated to work with 2.0.. and that will take time too.. so you might as well be patient.
  • LeScrotum · 1 year ago
It is obvious that all this pent up anger is really toward Apple/AT&Lame... because everyone feels: "why the hell do they keep trying to lock it down?!?"... Apple/AT&Lame don't respond... but gehot/zibri/dev team does... and so it feels like "you are being heard by someone"...

A big thank you to those that have given me the ability to enjoy technology as it should be... free to use as you please so long as you are not harming others... a big screw you to the jack a$$es that caused this mess to begin with... those jerks over at AT&Lame (and friends)...

I love the first response.... it really brings you back down to how little these things really matter... take a moment and be grateful for everything you have!!!!

    Nuff said.

The dev team needs to learn how to take a joke :-)
  • Benji the Kid · 1 year ago
I'm as eager as any to get the tool... But I've tried a lot of shit out there, and think you are abosolutely right in your strategy.
  • hiimcliff · 1 year ago
I can't believe what the hell I'm reading. Listing to this blatant fanboy'ing. "long live dev team". "geohot sucks". Gtfoh. Yes, dev deserve credit for pwnage. Yes we should lighten up on them and let them do their thing. But I do feel that all the hype, hints, games, and video is a lame attempt to hog the spotlight. The very same thing they accuse zibri and geohot of. And even media whoring isn't that big of a deal. However, when you couple that with the release of the iPhone 3g it makes for a dangerous combo. It IS arrogant as most have pointed out to release videos, screenshots, and blog entries about an unlock for 2.0 and the iPhone 3g. Now some are saying that the dev don't even have an unlock for the iPhone 3g. Whaaa? That was also what the hinted in the updates on the 11th. And with the secretive nature of the unlock its no wonder people think that.

Another thing that irks me is the immaturity of the whole iPhone hacking community. Zibri IS a media whore. Geohot is cocky. The devs are paronoid and overly protective. You guys should work together. Info should be shared. For god sake holding releases to make some type of chess move to apple is retarded. No software/firmware is hole-proof. Other ways to unlock will be found. Stop bitching, give the peoples what they wants.

In the mean time. Someone here made a great point. Frustrations are being taken out on the wrong people. Apple is the enemy here. The give exclusive rights to one carrier in a certain area and the carriers have special rate plans for the iPhone. Hence, apple is helping the carriers f**k us. I'm going to start an open letter and petition to urge Apple to end exclusive deals and carrier locks.

    I'll post the link soon.
  • Bucks · 1 year ago
Get angry at your government too. There should be anti competitive laws so no-one has a given monopoly. In Australia and other places where this exists, multiple carriers offer the iPhone, albeit locked to the carrier you buy the phone from, or pay a fee to unlock it. Yes to buyer freedom, No to corporate monopolies.

  • Pyrofallout · 1 year ago
That's a damn shame someone leaked it. Hope they have been disbanded. There are some of us that know there is a reason Pwnage isn't out yet. And it is a good reason, you guys are looking out for us. Appreciate the hard work guys and just keep doing what you are doing, ya'll are the best!
  • GenghisPhlip · 1 year ago
Totally agree. While I am as anxious to see the new tool as anyone else here I also have a deep appreciation for the time effort and dedication that you guys/gals put into your work. I believe that your work is important in several ways but most importantly your 'tools' do not allow their users to be victimized by mega companies and their proprietary systems.

As for Geohot; big brain + big mouth = one goofy sob and I join with Pyrofallout in the hope that the 'leaky' member has been removed.
  • Jeff · 1 year ago
I guess that decent people to respect what you said and just stay quiet for you guys to work. We should all remember that those guys are doing it for free and they are doing their work responsabily, trying to avoid any damage to your phones. So let them work =)

PS. I love you guys :D
  • Henrik · 1 year ago
Thanks for the update - it will most definitely be worth the wait :)
  • Alex · 1 year ago
Don't rush the tool. Great things take time. I'm sure most people here want a great tool rather than a rush job
  • alfrank · 1 year ago
Very good article to stop whiners and other fools !
Looking forward to a perfect release !
Keep up the good work !
  • jchaike · 1 year ago
lol, there are people that will whine and bet for this release, while others will simply accept the fact that its not out yet.

    there is no "changing minds"

I agree it was a great blog entry, but that won't stop people from saying "OH EM GEEZ RELEASE N0W!" lol

I couldn't agree more. As much as I would like to upgrade to 2.0 and fix my brick, I'd rather wait and be assured that the upgrade will go smoothly, and not make matters worse. Keep up the good work!

When the new Pwnage Tool will be released ? A day, a week or a month ?? Installer and Cydia will be included ?
Sorry but we can't wait !!!

THX Geohot, Dev Team and all peoples who support iphone development since 1 year now.

Some people don't understand when the tests will be all good they will release it.
  • Vaatje · 1 year ago
completely understandable I totally appreciate your work. Thanks for looking out after us, the iphone users.
  • ahboi · 1 year ago
well said. No worries, please take your time to develop the program. I have been monitoring the comments and I am quite irritated by some comments. If you can't wait, please go and sign up for AT&T or just don't upgrade. Why complain so much?
  • shayanbahal · 1 year ago
hey guys! keep it up, u'r doing a great job out there!!!
i definitely gonna wait for YOUR release of the unlock!!
    thanks:X
  • tibe · 1 year ago
I will wait for YOUR tools, in this world of thieves and hurry up dudes your approach is remarcable.

thank you for your hard work, hope i can pay back in some way.
  • pebeka · 1 year ago
Hi. Thanks .Of course you are right. For those who upgraded to 2.0 and are stuck in this firmware. Go and look at http://sleepers.net/news/?page_id=216. This will enable you to downgrade to 1.1.4 until the dev team releases PwnageTool v 2.0.
  • adioz · 1 year ago
    its dont work(((
  • DP1262 · 1 year ago
are you trying from a mac or from windows? I don't know why but no matter how many times I tried my mac wouldn't debrick my phone. Lucky for me I had my dad's winbox and it did the trick. I'd give that a shot.
  • Tony · 1 year ago
I've gone down to 1.1.4 about a dozen times on a mac in the last couple of weeks.. it's actually quite straightforward.

Go to 1.1.4 standard, use pwnage (if pwnage bricks it ie. black screen, repeat and it'll work the second time). Load up iNdependence and tell it to activate the phone, then in the phone use BootNeuter to flash the correct bootloader.
  • Tony · 1 year ago
btw. all of this works fine from itunes 7.7 - that site is needlessly complicated.
  • stuck · 1 year ago
boot neuter will not downgrade .04.05.04_G no matter how many times I try, pc or mac. I get the error 5 consistently and I am afraid to use ziphone with patch, how did you guys get around this?
  • dishman · 1 year ago
I used ziphone with patch. Worked great. My boot nuter did not work either. ziphone was my last resort.
  • SomeGuy · 1 year ago
There is nothing more important than thorough testing in Software Development. People still haven't figured that out, so I'm glad that you're trying to make something good.
  • NoNews · 1 year ago
Yeah, I agree. Test the actual TOOL and leave the bloody kiddie gui until thats ready...

I think what is genuinely annoying people who have been with the "scene" from the start is that they do *not* need or want all this flashy professionalism... Make sure the TOOL is tested and release - letting us all wait while the "gui text is finalised" is a bloody shame...
  • Mike · 1 year ago
Yeah, guys! Keep up working. Maybe you can even add 3G unlock! But please do it before next week
  • pete · 1 year ago
There wont be 3G unlock support. have to wait some more weeks

  • Robert · 1 year ago
Definitely your right to make the call if the information is your property. I think the comments that you have made surrounding others contributions paints the most compelling direction on why to make the software public. However, that is only in the case where this is a standard piece of software. Apple patching the security weakness is really the only foot you have to stand on in my opinion as far as why to hold back on the release date.

Kudos for the work you do though; greatly appreciated.

Hey I´m from Germany so my english is not so good. My question is:
Can I unlock the 3g IPhone with the PwnageTool, or is it only for the 2g Iphone.

    You do a great jop.
  • ahboi · 1 year ago
    its for both 3g n 2g iphones
  • zebrum · 1 year ago
You can jailbreak and activate both the 2G and 3G iphones with pwnage tool. However you can only SIM unlock the 2g iphone.
  • pete · 1 year ago
zebrum is right, pwnage 2.0, will NOT be able to unlock IPhone 3G.
  • odysseus · 1 year ago
Whoa. Really? How do you know that?
  • Jon · 1 year ago
I presume they are taking this from what GeoHot said, however I wouldn't take what he said as indisputable fact. It might have been true last week, it might still be true.. but it might not as well.
  • Shai · 1 year ago
    Guys,

Please do not respond to the teasers in the forum wanting a fast solution, which as we all know will cost us later.
Do a good job, a thorough one, and release when you are ready.
We trust your work, and are patient and waiting.
    Thanks,
    sincerely,

NO ! pwnage 2.0 will only be able to jailbreak 3G, there is NO - UNLOCK. Dev Team is making a secret out of it, but thats the truth sorry for all 3G owners with sim-lock

Ohhh Man, I've been refreshing all day hoping against hope it would come out. I saw the new post just there and my heart lept, only to be dashed! It wasn't the release after all!

Guys, as dissapointed as I am, I'm fully behind what you say. Love they work you're doing, REALLY appreciate it! If I have to wait a bit longer until you're ready to release, then I have to wait a bit longer. I sure as hell couldn't do it myself!

Keep up the good work, and ignore the whiners, they will always have something to complain about!

I don't understand why geohot puts this pressure in the game... He stated that the iboot exploit is dev team's work and we also know that he didn't like what zibri did... perhaps he is bluffing? yiphone? come one geo.... serious?
  • unnammed · 1 year ago
As a Computer Science student, I do appreciate the work of iPhone Dev team.

They are right, most iPhone users are ordinary people and they just don't appreciate the art of programming. Imagine you have to sit in front of your monitor 24-7 just to make the pwnged tools for the rest of the world for free. What would you feel ?

Even Geohotz is planning his release, I think the iPhone Dev team member should stick to their own style or mortal. Geohotz has Google, but iPhone Dev team has the rest of the world to support.

Work hard guys, you all are already legend :)

    Guys,

Agree with what you are saying HOWEVER --> the 99% majority of people just want to unlock their phone and activate it for the new firmware 2.0.

Even if you release just the unlock so people can install the new software --> then release the rest of the tool --> it would really satisfy most people here.

    Andy
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago

"So finally, just in case some of you were wondering, we’re not sitting on this tool because we’re full of ourselves or up our own asses. We’re not sitting on it cause we like to see you writhe. We are testing it to make sure it’s as glitch-free as we can make it. We want to avoid releasing something that turns expensive phones into pretty looking paperweights. Don’t you agree it’s worth the wait?"

Wow, so you're telling me that you're not only good hackers but good programmers too? Surely such a beast couldn't exist? ;-)

of course you're "improving" pwnage :)) the ramdisk hack no longer works..practically that was the heart of pwnage.. Our only hope here as i see is the iBoot..

We'll see if you guys manage to release pwnage 2 days now on. My bet is on Geohot and yiPhone
    Good luck guys

    Hello from Australia,

I think you guys are doing a great job. To have been able to hack the 2.0 software so soon shows that you are all very talented. Keep up the good work and don't release the PwnageTool until you are ready.

Let people complain all they want, if they don't like the fact that you haven't given a date yet, then they can go make their own hack.

    Cheers.

  • zebrum · 1 year ago
You can jailbreak and activate both the 2G and 3G iphones with pwnage tool. However you can only SIM unlock the 2g iphone.
  • Yannick · 1 year ago
you're sure that it can't sim unlock 3G iPhones?
  • zebrum · 1 year ago
Yes. The 3G iphone comes with a new baseband bootloader and no vulerability has been found yet to flash a patched baseband on there.

IMO this is the reason for the delay in jailbreak release. If they give the jailbreak to the public then the race will be on to find the sim unlock, because jailbreak is a prerequisite, and hence lose full 3G credibility. At the moment the dev team are at a distinct advantage, and hence why the blog author refers to a poker analogy.
  • Yannick · 1 year ago
damn, so it is still waiting for me then... oh well, i amuse myself already with my new iphone ;)
  • pete · 1 year ago
I just can agree with Zebrum, he is right. DEV Team is on hard work, they do a great job. But I do not like it, that they were making a secret out of it, if you'll be able to unlock or not (3G). We had to get this information from other sources, thats just poor sorry. Why making a show out of it ? Just tell the people that they shouldnt calculate with 3G unlock in Pwnage 2.0. Anyway I'll hope you get it unlocked soon..
  • Spa_ced[.ie] · 1 year ago

  • anarchron · 1 year ago
Why is everyone dissing geohot anyway? He is a great hacker and one who still embodies the the open spirit of sharing knowledge and information.

But then again, I suppose the dev-team prefer making videos these days. At the rate things are going, I reckon ipwnage 2.0 will only come out when geohot releases his hack.

Might have been worthwhile posting this explanation for not releasing the tool before releasing multiple videos stating "we have the unlock but you can't have it".

You painted yourselves into a corner.
  • mariocha · 1 year ago
Well, I find it very nice to know that the work is progressing. So I like these videos, a lot. Keep me in hope.
I sure can wait a bit more for the good & ready stuff.
Think that once you have it, you wil probably find something else to wish for anyway.

A million thanks to the team !! (from Québec)

    Read the post again, numbnuts.
  • Dré · 1 year ago
I stand by my comment. The Dev team is showboating, claim credit for being the first when they're not ready for prime-time.

You slam Geohot for bad PR (not that I'm claiming your wrong about Geohot) when you go posting pompous videos, the people waiting for the release would simply be placated by genuine progress reports.

"numbnuts" eh? Thank you for the mature level of discourse. Only serves to prove my point.

Totally agree. Take your time to finalise the work that you are doing upon full respect of your quality standards. The concerns that your refer to in your post are most welcome from an end-user perspective. Do not have thanks enought to value the generous work that your Team is doing. All the best

Flawless speech... as if you were right up there on stage next to the Apple spokesman :)

pwnage isn't just another way of getting there without payment. it gives the majority what it needs.. "the solution to it all", 'course this is worth waiting for!. if you browse the forums, you will see two types of users.
    1. the hardcore clan that supports the device as it enlightens their life
    2. the softies who just have to have the thing to be cool.
the last one most commonly to bash a leak on every solution upcomming, where the first zenfully awaits the solution as it's ready to be there. We, the first, are likely to pay the 'glith-free' version by donating that requested fee called patience....

Keep the faith in that clan, as they keep the faith in the iPhone-Dev Team.

No, sorry. It will definetely NOT be able to Unlock the Iphone 3G with Pwnage 2.0. You can just Jailhack it

Ha ha, so funny! You mean if you release a GUI, Apple and nobody can't figure out how you did it!!!! So funny! That makes me feel Ahmadinejad is among your dev team! Foolish explanation. Guys, it's hackers culture to find solutions to tough problems, share them. who cares what happens after that?! locked again?! no problem, a new challenge! Those who keep stuff private are not HACKERS!

There are 2 kinds of people reading and refreshing this blog:
    1) people who wants the unlock now, no matter where it comes from and no matter what! (the ones who cry because their Iphones have no wifi or have died)
    2) people who supports you and is waiting, and will wait for your work! (the ones who will be grateful to you both, will it be tomorrow or next week)

I can only admire your choice to give us ( at n.2 ) a good-quality tool for end-users, no matter if someone will be appealed and use someone else's tool.
    THANKS!!!!!!!!!
  • anarchron · 1 year ago
This is geohot we're talking about, not Zibri.

Even if yiphone comes out before ipwnage 2.0, I doubt it would brick your wifi etc.

Heck, this is the guy who hacked the 4.6 Bootloader that many many people should be thankful for.

    I have an iPhone 2G
I'm waiting for an unlock tool to install fw2.0.
    I hope someone releases soon.
I don't care if it comes from Dev Team, Zibri or Gehot.
    I am not an hacker.
I am just a common iPhone user as millions out there.

Proud to hear your holding your ground. Keep it up and even if somehow geohot releases something sooner it will be just like the ziphone fiasco which ran buggy on my machine. 1.1.4 pwned runs flawless and I have no doubt. 2.0 pwned will be the same.

Keep up the good work guys you have our support.

I have total respect for you guys and agree with your post. I have one statement to make though: it's funny how apple hackers mimic the apple corporation in their style of hacking. Why do I think that? Because It's all super secretive. Stuff isn't shared with the world until we can handle it. I would love to see a true wiki where people openly shared info and solutions were worked on together. You said its like a poker game. It IS but what you don't realize is that EVERY baseband is hackable. Every ROM can be pwned. There has never been an unlockable phone. Info can be shared. Apple will patch. We will find another way around it.
  • Jamie · 1 year ago
Take your time guys. Do you have a downgrade tool in the mean time? I upgraded 1 of my 2 phones and cannot downgrade it to 1.1.4. Followed online instructions no luck. If I can get the phone to work I can wait months.

Thank you very much. I will wait patiently.
  • MarkMoore · 1 year ago
The whole point is, Dev Team, when you have all the spotlight, people expect you to still be one of them.
I remember the first time you unlocked our iPhones, I was told "A bunch of guys online hacked the phone and you're ready to unlock" .. That made me personally feel that we're all a team, you're doing the effort of hacking, so what's my duty? Probably donate or at least, say Thanks, appreciate the hard work. But, nowadays, all I know of Dev Team is a name, somehow I wouldn't get shocked if I am walking down the street and found a HUGE building with "Dev Team" logo on it, and when I ask, I'd be told "This is Dev Team's Mid East Branch"! I hope you're getting what I am talking about because I am writing in a rush already..
What you're asked to do is: Whether you'd release your hack today, tomorrow or even in two weeks, maintain your relationship with the people who loved you once, who thanked you with their hearts and minds for making their little dreams come true. Stay there, down there.. Don't just step up and keep going up the stairs, because then, people would find alternatives.
Let me tell you, I have unlocked my phone the last time "1.1.3/1.1.4" using GeoHot's method. Honestly, not because it was said to be "Update Resistant" or because it was a fast release.. Only because at some point I felt, GeoHot is one of us. I never knew that he used to work with you previously.. But now that I am reading what you wrote today, again I'd tell you, keep your loving relationship with your people strong, this is what you should count on, because when you know you're loved, you won't worry about any others posting cheaper versions of your hacks or that people would go for anyone else. They'll wait for your release for months, and I'll be the first in line.

    Good luck :-)

  • dial · 1 year ago
oh FFS, seriously? "maintain your relationship"... "one of us"..."your loving relationship with people strong"...
It's a phone, it got hacked, there's an update, we await the hack... That is all
  • NoNews · 1 year ago
    Spot on.

I dont care for the new persona of the dev team - they have bought into their own bullshit...

Hell guys continue polishing up you GUI with more flashy animation... most of the people who should be playing with such a tool will use geohot's command line app on tuesday and the dev team will forever look a little silly...
  • fiish · 1 year ago
We have all seen what happens when computer games or apps are rushed to release - buggy and sometimes trash your system. I am speaking as a Windows user of course :P

So, if waiting longer means a tool that won't turn my iPhone into a glorified brick of aluminium, plastic, glass and various other exotic materials found in electronic components, I am all for it. I am resigned to waiting some more after that for WinPwn anyway.
  • PENGUINHACKER · 1 year ago
    Very well written post!
I must say I want this today as much as anyone, to be honest I wanted it Friday. But I also don't want to have to ask 40 questions about how to use this as a command line tool. Only to have to wait and look through hundreds of posts for the answer. Also I'm sure that would be your dream to sit around and answer all of our questions over and over and over again.
So take your time guys and get it right, I'm counting on you:) And I trust it will be great!
Please if there if anything that I can do to help please let me know!

Thanks for all of your time Dev Team
  • NoNews · 1 year ago
Thats the problem. I wanted it friday and I *can* read how to use a tool - so your idiocy is punishing me...
  • PENGUINHACKER · 1 year ago
I and many of us that our posting also know how to use a command line tool. But NoNews what you are forgetting about is the second this is released, everyone and their brother are going to hear about this from Digg, Engadget and probably even from there local news. Then they would try it from the command (that they have never used) line and start bitching because now the have an  paperweight.

Take a rest dear, from what's going on, don't expect anything before a day or two.

the weather is terrible and it doesnt help that i have work which is directing and to my luck i have a shooting already next thursday in this terribly HOT weather. wish i could hide under the covers in the a/c but a man gotta do what he gotta do right :D

and believe me waiting for the pwnage tool to unlock 2.0 is my have fun with version 2.0 while waiting till the iphone 3G gets released here officially :D so i am in no hurry, i mean i am but when the egyptian vodafone customer service that should be selling the iphone 3g before years end doesnt even know there is a 3G iphone and simply tells me yesterday that apple didnt make a 3G iphone. i am sure me waiting for the pwnage tool is so easy to waiting for the 3G to be released here :D
  • Chris (Manchester, UK) · 1 year ago
I suspect I am like most of you in this forum, we have an unlocked 2G phone at 1.1.4 waiting to try the new features, and if you're like me checking this site every hour or so :-) therefore it would make sense to for the DEV team to focus all efforts on 2G phones and release the pwnage tool to unlock the 2G version first (this will satisfy 1000's of us in one go), then releasing future enhancements to support the 3G phone.

Its hard to wait (I should know I am an impatient Taurus), but I wouldn't dream of calling you any rude names as I have a brain and can completely understand your explanations.

  • Chris (Manchester, UK) · 1 year ago
I am a MAC convert now, but I used to dual boot my old Asus laptop using OSX86 (http://www.osx86project.org/), I can confirm that the PWNAGE tool works 100% on OSX86, the legallity of OSX86 is clearly suspect, but if I'm anything to go by I recently spent £1600 on a macbook pro based upon my experiences with OSX86.
  • craig_16 · 1 year ago
Find someone with a Mac and unlock it (if you can't, that's a shame, I guess you'll just have to wait), I'd gladly unlock anybodies iPhone if they asked. The Windows release will come, but the dev team need to start with one operating system, and as the iPhone is an Apple product, us Mac users kind of get priority.

Release it when you will. I sure as H$!! can't hack an Iphone. I do have to agree with the guys who thought the videos where arrogant. A large amount of this scene is about pride and reputation. You shouldn't be able to claim your hack until its stable and releasable. The teaser videos are just annoying drivel.

Oh, so if dev team releases the tool before Geohottie's "ultimatum" , we should thank him for that? It is apparent to me that he felt left behind lately and trying very hard to hog the limelight again and stay relevant with the iphone scene. We have given him enough credit for his leet hax but what's with this countdown bullshit? Is he trying to threaten the Dev Team?

If I am the Dev Team, I will now "delay" the release to beyond Geohottie;s "deadline" even though the tool is ready for the release, just to prove a point and tell him to go fuck himself. He has actually done a disservice to the community by pulling off this silly stunt.

Remember Guys: Even if Geohot would release yiPhone earlier than PWNAGE 1.2, using yiPhone would be much more dangerous due to the fact it was not tested as long as PWNAGE. And devteam has a reason why they are testing this tool intensively. But I know that my words will not stop people from using tools, consisting of stolen and untested code.

But please: Just f***ing stop crying when your phone is broken. You deserved it.

    just my 2 cents

hmm looks like a nice poker match...
    can i bet in?
    *takes his poker set*
But to be honest i was expecting something like this.
I cant talk about the past. to not lie... i didnt know Dev team before...
I didnt unlocked whit on-click-simpel-comercial-everyoneknows-youtube-rapidshare tool.
well upgrading always step by step whit jailbreak and writing comands and change xml files wasnt great hobby for me. especialy not because i like to toy around and when i brick my cell i had to do all again because its... only cell after i sold my HTC TyTN II.
    Hmm where was i?
    ...
    ah poker play.
well, its like fighting insects or what ever.
If you solve the problem right away and kill the insects in your garden whit the strongest drug. they will be imun and know how to resist it. if it was already your highest card... well, you lost and you need to start from zero.
Same goes for Playstation3. there is a way, but to difficult and it needs a lot of technical wisdom. if its released, sony knows and will become imun to it and a easy way to hack will be again far away.
In any case, i think dev team feels responsable for the devlopment of hacking at the moment. there is no real opponent right? So apple only need to find a way to update to 2.1 and its already safe.
before, like i said, there was a lot of ways to hack the iphone. it was imposible for apple to... hmm no it wasnt imposible, actualy they corrected and now we have a problem right?
i only hope dev team knows how to control the situation. can someone remember the hackings for ps2? it actualy needet 3 years for a "good safe" way. what came before was only low quality stuff.
    ok, its time for me to visit my parents ^^;
ah and to all writing thanks and bla bla bla... this is a blog, lets actualy blog about.
    I didnt saw a message reply to an other. only the first mesages counting from first second third and last ^^;
    till in some h maybe

And I am so happy with your work that I can wait a while until you are certain that it is useful and working. Well done for all your free time you are spending on this tool. I don't care about the excuses and crap in your pathetic little post. We have a right to this software and it should be my own choice wether I want to use it and break my phone or not not yours to make. I demand that you make the software available right now. Not tomorrow, right now...

I don't understand how all you people can say thank you for all your hard work when they haven't even done anything. This phone was brought out on Friday - where is this god dam hack.... 3 days and nothing.. Your worthless - Geohot seems like a decent bloke and maybe he'll bring something out that's not taking to bloody long.
  • craig_16 · 1 year ago
Wow, you have a right to someone elses work? I don't think so! The Dev Team are just trying to make things go easier for us and reduce the amount of people emailing them saying "your tool broke my iPhone". They are trying to protect their reputation. They are trying to be PROFESSIONAL. "3 days and nothing.." - are you kidding me? You can't live with 1.1.4 for another few days? Really? It's been fine for you for the last 4 and a half months, so what's the big deal?

I agree with the majority of people here and support the Dev Team in their decision to give us a stable, thoroughly tested tool.

Thank you for clearing up the air for some of them. I always had faith in the human spirit and you guys do great. Do not be threatened or bullied.
Geohot is not on the team.
Anyone seeing any kind of conflict of interest here as he now works for Google?
I for one would really not like t have to pay for an unlock. I doh have PayPal for Trinidad. :-(
Keep it up and if people want to steal code and package it without having full knowledge of the project and inadvertently mess up people's phones, it will be a sad reality...
  • frosse · 1 year ago
First of all, keep up the good work DevTeam :)

I'm really quite worried that the iPhone 3G wont be unlocked for other sims :( I dont know how good Geohot is but what he writes in his last post worries me:

"The possiblity of unlocking, which is very distinct from jailbreaking, is based entirely on the baseband bootloader. Apple doesn't appear to upgrade the bootloader on phones in the field, probably for fear of breaks. So any old iPhones out there today, regardless of version, can be unlocked.

The iPhone 3G uses a different bootloader, which I believe there aren't any known exploits in yet. So no unlock."

Its the last sentence that almost makes me cry, that there are no known exploits for 3G unlocking. I REALLY hope that you'll be able to pull this one off, devteam. :D

Keep up the good work!! And of course, take your time :) Wouldnt want a bricked phone :p

EDIT: Btw, your blog is weird, I dont get the system of the comments :S

    - Are you DevTeam?
    - Are you involved in iPhone jailbreaking/unlocking process at all?

Just a couple of questions for you Marc . You seem to know a lot :)

sorry to say but this speach is a load of BS!! if you have a working version of jailbreak then release it. Dont worry about someone stealing it and making a profit because its still going to happend. If you dont plan on releasing a software then why release a video? Why not just wait till you have a non buggy version like you said? Just to show people that you did it? Come on now! You guys are very talented but come on nowl.

Hi, what ever the dev-team is doing is correct. They are group of team and experienced and they know when to release it. We always want a bug free unlocker and Dev-Team is giving a best shot at it. I really appreciate them.
Everybody knows how many people will be happy, that dev-team sharing their efforts for free and making iphone users so happy. (they feel it inside, and atleast once they might have thank'd dev-team in their hearts).

    Patience is virtue.

I always insists on a trusted team like Dev-Team and I can wait ... wait... till they finally release.

    Thank you dev-team.

    God Bless you.

Hey guys, I haven't posted on here before, but I just wanted to let you know that I will be supporting your Jailbreak! You're one of the main reasons Jailbreak exists, and I know I will not use anything else. Especially if it's a rip of your own creation.
  • flowney · 1 year ago
So what's the next challenge? That was a rhetorical question so let me suggest an answer.

In talking about the iPhone and iPod touch, we are all suffering with the same problem which is visualizing these devices in a way that is clear and sharp enough so that anyone can grasp a technique, a method or the use of an application as quickly as possible. The videos here are good, the Apple videos are better but what is really needed is a way to screencast the iPhone and iPod touch in action without fingers (dark or illuminated) getting in the way.

At first, I thought that the iPhone simulator in the iPhone SDK would be the answer, especially with great screencasting tools such as Vara's ScreenFlow. However, the iPhone simulator is grossly incomplete and what is there (e.g. mobile Safari) isn't fully functional. Mobile Safari on the iPhone Sim won't play many videos that the real iPhone and iPod touch will play.

The other possible avenue to a solution is more hardware oriented. We've all seen the special iPhone used at various MacWorld and WWDC events to project the entire iPhone or iPod touch UI to a screen. As I understand it, Apple is not making the data port specs known to anyone outside the company.

Are either or both of these challenges of interest to the Dev Team?

Of course Apple should be doing this. Enabling people to "show and tell" their iPhone and iPod touch adventures and problems would certainly have a major viral marketing effect. Yes, they have enabled a very nice screen shot capability in 2.0 but the most interesting things to talk about are dynamic in nature. Imagine is Apple had to confine its infomercial efforts to static screen shots.

BTW, I have posted a similar inquiry over at touchmods.net.
  • daniel · 1 year ago
A very simple solution would be to writhe a vnc-server app for the iphone!

there's a vnc-client on installer, so where is the problem to writhe a server too?
  • flowney · 1 year ago
Great idea but I cannot find one. Lots of stuff on using the iPhone to control desktops but nothing I can find for the reverse scenario, The key factor would be getting an exact copy of the entire iPhone or iPod touch screen on a Mac desktop and then figure out a way to represent the fingertips like the iPhone Sim does.

Perhaps it would be as easy as moving Screen Sharing from MacOS X 10.5.x to a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch.

Apple Remote Desktop and Timbuktu are other possibilities I suppose.

This article suggests ways to enhance screen sharing: http://www.macworld.com/article/131094/2007/12/...

Well, Geohot was on the team but like the dev team has posted, he went off onto his own path and went to the media, first starting with his youtube video, then it spread like wildfire that HE did it.

He gave bits and peices of credit, and while he did provide the meat for the first hack (exploiting the baseband) he still had no right to go to the media with the teams findings.

I will just say for those who cannot wait that they can go ahead and try whatever on hand if they can make it work. Otherwise, what you are saying is definitely correct and you can take all the time there is to make it work. All of those who are in a hurry for a release, If they really know Apple, then I would say that V2.0 is not a rocket science invention anyway, as one of the features that we were really looking for is not there, simply, Cut & Paste!!!

    Good luck all.
  • ParanoidSardine · 1 year ago
Thanks for your hard work! It is definitely worth waiting for you to give the ok on your software. Given that you guys are providing us with a procedure that could potential break our phones and leave us with out warranty coverage, I almost feel like you should wait months before releasing ;) The fact that you have people out there waiting in line on launch day buying phones with your own money (God only knows how you can fund this) is just amazing. You all have the knowledge to simply do this on your own, but by the goodness of your heart you share this with all. Please continue doing what you do and realize that there is a lot of genuine care for you all and, as best as you can, please try to ignore the selfish pleas for early release, as well as the unkind comments.

Again, thank you so much for what you do.

If you have to ask, you'll never know. Seriously.

Post your findings and your methodoligy first.

Employeers don't hire people with zero experience for tough jobs. If you want access to very privileged information that even apple doesn't have discreet knowledge on, you'll have to jump through a few hoops.

Kudos - that was one well-crafted blog entry!

I'm one of those iPhone owners who is just patiently waiting - I totally understand the principle of taking your time to make a really *good* product. The fact that you're looking out for the variety of users of your (free!) product is also admirable.

It's sad to read about the personal ego issues intruding, but in the end I think dev team come out looking the most professional. Given the totality of the iPhone phenomenon, I also think dev team's choices look strategically wise.

    Many thanks from Canada!

Thank you, Dev Team, for actually explaining the situation outright. This is a welcome change. If only you had been more forthright in the past, then people would not have jumped to so many conclusions so early. This is the kind of clarity the user community has been desiring for a long time.

Being open does not mean releasing every single exploit as soon as it's released. It's simply educating both your internal team, and your users of the challenges you face, and why the decisions you make are the best way of tackling them.

I've been very thankful for your commitment to quality and stability, and I hope that this new-found openness and clarity are both helpful in fostering the patience you deserve in order to complete your work, and an indication of how you will communicate in the future with the public at large, and most importantly, your detractors.

    Peace.

I really don't care about the politics-laws of the hacking community. It's their own space and they can do whatever they want. Also i don't care who's release is gonna be the first one to the public. I'm using the iPhone from day one and i have been using so far all the methods that came out. I respect Zibri's work and i don't care if he stole code from anyone. The reason is that zibri's tools never bricked my phone and because he always looks to give you information about his-their work. I'm 100% positive that everyone is going to use zibri's or Geohot tool if their release it sooner than the Dev team. The same happened with 1.1.3 -1.1.4. So stop acting like dev teams hores and look around for a different tool than PWnage.

dont any of you complainers realize that its not the GUI that's being reworked..

the GUI can be edited in a few minutes and if its big changes maybe a couple hours, they designed it very smartly and simply, from the demo vids you can see the GUI it at a place where all they would be editing is the copy used as placement for now..

its the actual coding of the jailbkreak, activation and unlock that needs reworking and polishing_ not the GUI

so even if you got the "command line" version you may still encounter the errors they are trying to fix or FIND ;)

I 1000% agree with your choice not to release PwnageTool yet. When the method for Pwnage was revealed, I was seriously worried that Apple would patch out the exploit immediately. Then they DID patch it out shortly after the first betas of iPhone 2.0 came out. I'm glad we're not going to see a repeat performance of that recklessness.

hi im from germany! I hate these fucking t-mobile because of selling ihpone 3g only with a contract and very bad conditions. i hate this kind of economical politic for getting money of people who like a good product and use their trust!
so i will buy a belgium or swiss iphone without a monthly contract.

it`s very glad to see that there are people in the world who will be reaching possibilities to get an iphone in germany!

when the new pwnage-tool is released and i can unlock the new iphone i will be the most happy german boy in the world^^ so great thanks to your engagement devteam!!!
  • kasthor · 1 year ago
i've read the post.. and man... i think geohot is just making fun of zibri... don't get your hearts too deep into that... in the end people will be happy or not just coz of the product not coz of your ego's fight... keep it going.. don't let the pressure take over your brains.... we all know that it's hard work, if it wasn't we were doing this ourselves... and just one small tip... u will be "grown ups" when you stop pointing the "immature"... just let the foolish attitudes pass by... if they stole from you before... well.. let them be.... they will have a pain in the ass thinking how to prove that they didn't while you have all the knowledge you need for further releases...

You guys rock! Take your time. I'd rather wait a few days than have a bad experience! International travelers stuck on ATT have to share the love! Prepaid SIM locally in Europe or $3.50 a minute roaming? I have probably saved the cost of an iPhone because of you folks! So thanks for my "free" upgrade to the 3G. And now I have the old one as an app dev iPhone that I can reset and restore with no worries. Kudos again. You just ignore the impatient whiners and let them go jailbreak and unlock the 3G on their own. Personally I think Apple should be paying all the early hackers. Without 3rd party apps the iPhone is a sad entry for a smartphone (cool technically but lame in use). And jailbreak and unlock drove all the 3rd party apps into existence. Many of the folks who developed apps and did not release them until the official SDK and APP store used the open toolchain to get a headstart. And many of the APP store apps are, ummm.... familiar. Apple owes the large number of apps in the store at opening to the whole jailbreak, unlock, activate, and "do some cool app" community and you guys are a big part of making that possible.

yessssss, bring it on!!! the high quality video rocks.....keep on doing it! and give us a release date soooooon, please! tk u dev team, you are stars!

    Well well well.
Looks like we have a whole lot of people coming in here knowing half truths.

I unlocked my first iphone as geo was posting the info for the first HW unlock.

What people do is catch feelings because of what somebody said on some blog, let their emotions run without facts and mouth off about things they know nothing, or at best very little about.

There is much the "Dev team" owe to gehot and his work (and vice-versa). We the user of their unlocks owe them even more.

Give respect where respect is due. And thats to both Geohot and the Dev Team.

    Keep up the works guys.
  • brooksgarrett · 1 year ago
Did you see what just happened? The Dev team just released a Pwnage on the whiners!
  • eric b · 1 year ago
most of us here are "beggars" as we dont have the skills to hack this stuff ourselves and we have to rely on your. As we all know beggars cant be chosers so some of these posts beggars belief. The day a beggar walks up to me and asks me "so WHEN will I get my money?" there will be some trouble..

Dev Team: some of us are retarded, some of us impatient and some of us patient. I am looking forward to your fix WHEN it comes. I am in no hurry although my iPhone is stuck in restore mode after having attempted the upgrade :-)

    Cheers,
    Eric

    Hey guys,
Its a shame that you have to explain yourselves like this, but I think it helps. What you say makes perfect sense now.
What difference does it make if we don't have the 2.0 software on our phones yet? Its not like they stopped working without it. Its better to wait and get something perfected and hassle free then to risk the safty of our phones.
Thanks for all your efforts and keep up the good work :)

The only reason for holding back the exploit is to wait for Apple's MobileMe rollout to complete, so that they can see whether it can be used to negate the exploit they plan to use.
Anything else is just media whoring, and from the idiotic comments posted here (from the haters to the fanbois) it's clear that it's working.
I unlocked my v1 iPhone with the very first leaked code, yes it was command line, yes it was risky, yes it lost the seczone and yes I learned a lot in the process. Great. It's still running like a charm now on 1.1.4, unlocked.
Seems like this time there's less 'hacking' and more sekrit bullshit - which I'd expect if the 'dev team' were planning to sell their code (including the polished GUI, which you'd only need for a commercial product) - but they claim they aren't. Seems very very fishy to me, unless it's all about making sure Apple settle down before they release anything.

And as far as the 'Pwnage Tool' (lame name) is concerned - so far it appears that it will only jailbreak, not unlock the baseband firmware. Which means there's still a large challenge for anyone to pick up. The 'dev team' aren't the only hackers in the world...
  • Loyal to Geohot · 1 year ago
Honestly it's all this "cloak and dagger" drama created by the dev team that makes me want to just wait for George's release of the iBoot exploit.

"We thought that Geohot would have matured somewhat in the last year, but this clearly isn’t the case, as sadly one of the team members has leaked a copy of our exploit to Geohot and he is now using this to try and provoke us into making an early release :-("

This is an insane statement! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Maturity? Honestly the iPhone Dev Team has become the poster child for immaturity in the hacking community, some of the drama that erupted over the ramdisk hack is embarrassing to us all. Now to see you guys trying to rewrite history and say you took some sort of high road? Don't be fooled people, this is a total fabrication.

In the end all the glory goes to those who herd the sheep, you're all lucky Geohot is being respectful enough NOT to immediately release the iBoot exploit.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
Just in case were wondering, if you decode the timer, u can see that the deadline is July 15th 12:00 noon ET . I still thing that the dev team is doing the right thing by holding the release till it's well tested.

Here is what I hope happens.

I hope Apple decides to stop really fucking around and letting the Dev(SHIT)Team dance and prance like a bunch of bitches. Apple should and I hope they do, start implementing checks, just like Sony, Microsoft, Sat TV, etc.... They simply ask one question: "anything altered". Answer yes. ACESS DENIED. See who gets PWNED then.

Think of how easy it was to do on Xbox, and PSP cracked games. They play fine in stand alone mode but if you go online, they lock your account.

Here it comes boys and girls. The end of the DEV(FUCK)TEAM !!!!!!!

    You heard it here first.

Ok well this is obviousely something to tell us that it WONT be released within a few days. So i think ur post before saying soon is wrong. I do appreciate what your doing and i know basicly everyone else does too but what you dont understand is that we are the consumers, us as a whole will demand. im saying that you guys shouldnt worry about what people say and think. although what i do want you to think about is that yours will probebly be the first program that will work with the 2.0 and the nearly the whole jailbroken community is waiting. If you could give us a rounded date we will stop complaining. we just want to stop having to check and comment and wait. you can truly let us free by giving us a rounded date.

    We all are saying please
  • tigres · 1 year ago
I won't put shit on my phone until pawnge. There are (contrary to other beliefs) loyal followers of the dev team.

Don't worry guys, your support channel is vast.

Your tools have never disappointed, and I have no doubt this will be another excellent release; when it is ready.
Thanks in advance. BPS / Tigres
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago
If you want to stop everybody complaining, just :
    1) release and don't care if it bricks phones
    2) give a date ... I am 200% sure nobody would complain if you were telling us, ok it is almost finished, please give us 2 weeks and your iphone will be free

About Geohot, I fully disagree with your statements, he is a REAL hacker. One who does not care about anything else than being able to break security code. And publishing what he does find as he finds it. Stop caring if some guys will break their phone (maybe me). Since when hacking should be safe ??? Do you think the first hardware hacks were safe ??? Come on.

None of what you describe above actually would create any buzz. You total lack of communication to your public is.
And please all of you blog readers, stop telling that you are happy with the current situation just because you are so afraid that devteam members could be simply pissed off and not release anything at the end. Yes this can happen, they don't own any of us anything. But if it is not coming from them it will come from somebody else at a point.
  • Turin · 1 year ago
That's a really nice attitude my friend. Do you kiss your mother with that spoilt mouth? nobody afraid of pissing anyone off, If a friend of mine was coming over to unlock my phone, I sure as hell would not pester him, be rude or say "if you don't do it for me now, someone else will later". But thats the beauty of the internet, you'll never meet the dev team, so you can be as much as a dickhead without repercussions., and you're still given a platform. If you really can't wait, go to the store you bought it from, I'm sure they'll be glad to unlock it for you, with only 12 to 18 easy monthly payments.

    To summarize:

Dev Team: Hey guys, we're not a 100% sure that our product and hack won't break you $200+ phone so we're testing it right now to make sure.

Wahoo: I don't care if I waste all that money! I can't wait two, three days! I WANT IT NOOOWW!

    xD
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago
wrong: I choose if I put my phone at risk :) and btw do you really believe that this kind of process can be 100% safe ... go back and read hackintosh forum better. True many people broke their phone with ziphone but some did it with iLiberty and pawnage to ...
  • iDarbert · 1 year ago
OK, so I take it that you would be in the front line defending the dev-team against angry people that ended up with non-functional iPhones because of a buggy tool fi they release it early without enough testing?
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago
You have read my post didnt you ? do you remember the hardware hacks ? Was this safe ? I love this. Hacking safely. Do you remember this is actually illegal in many countries ?
  • iDarbert · 1 year ago
Yes but what's wrong in making it as safe as possible?
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago
nothing wrong here :) As I mentioned you don't even have to release anything ... it is their work and they can decide what to do or not to do with it. They decided that it needs to be polished. Good. I still have the right to say that I am very impatient and I just get crazy :) The only comment no body made and that would have made sense is : if you are not happy hack it yourself :) but I am very lazy and probably way less talented that many of the team members so I prefer expressing my frustration and wait :)
  • washera · 1 year ago
Shut the fuck up DICK WAT !!
  • Wahoo · 1 year ago
lol. That's a very educated remark. Thanks god we have people like you still in this country.
  • JD · 1 year ago
This is not about egos or even necessarily about the hacking method being "safe" -- I'm sure it has been for a while now. The dev team is almost certainly withholding PwnageTool as a way of gaming Apple and making sure we don't all get screwed by a software update.

    Calm down.
  • NoNews · 1 year ago
I very much doubt the TOOL would brick anything at this stage... I think the wait is so they can polish up the kiddie GUI they haev bolted on to the front...

I think geohot is the only one of the team that hasn't bought into the bullshit...
  • onitake · 1 year ago
see it from the bright side: geohot sets you a deadline to make you work faster on the exploit. :)
more stress for the dev team, admitted, but also more prestige.
the faster you release, the more glory for you, the happier the users and the more pissed apple and their contracted operators.

i've been more or less closely following the iphone hack story since the beginning and i feel sad about all those quarrels. geohot's release early and often practice (truly in the spirit of open source), the elite team's split because of several issues and the reunion, zibri's solo career. i fully understand there will always be a human factor. everyone has their own values and desires. huge amounts of energy and talent are wasted on personal issues, but in the end, those with perseverance will prevail.
i'm glad so many bright people could overcome all that trouble and stay until now, to stand against the restrictive policy of apple and bless the world with a tool that will render the long-awaited iphone 2.0 truly useful.

i can't stop but see the similarities to what happened in the psp scene.

  • unknown · 1 year ago
Cant you just use pwnage 2.0 when it comes out for the 3g iphone with should activate it and jailbreak it. Then cant you use the new BootNeuter to downgrade the baseband to be used to unlock?
  • steven1 · 1 year ago
    no Unlock for 3G
  • clerik · 1 year ago
    yes ..... :-(
  • Jon · 1 year ago
Im guessing no... earlier basebands would be of no use on a 3G phone. Different hardware = different baseband.
  • eth0 · 1 year ago
Can we copy the 3G baseband of sim-lock free phones and copy that to the sim-locked once?

I'm presuming here it can still be flashed the same way if it can't this is also out of the question
  • faby · 1 year ago
That was my idea too! Iphone 3G sold in Italy are sim-locked free and can be used with any carrier!
But the dev team told us their tool's already working on the 3G's they've bought, so I don't think that's what they need...!
  • Jon · 1 year ago
Thank you, devteam, for the update.

I appreciate what you wrote, but actually don't see anything wrong with what GeoHot posted to his blog. What I see from him is just a status update many here have been asking for. Perhaps the info was taken from your efforts, and without your consent, but it does not appear to be the kind of detailed information on hacking the iPhone that other parties could use to create there own tool.

I said a few days ago that I really prefered the old wiki which showed the status of various goals trying to be reached in opening up the iPhone. It's this openess of status that I miss. I would love to see a list of stated goals and progress on those goals for pwnge 2.0. Stating, if this is the case, for example the the 3G phone is jail-broken and you're working on the baseband unlock, you have access to the bootloader or you don't. Not specifca details, just what you've accomplished and what you're still working on, no time lines, just status. However, that's in the domain of your collective prerogative and I won't make silly selfish impatient demands that you behave the way I'd like.

Good work. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your efforts, and thanks again.
